Wow those are the things in anime that I love (if used correctly). .Hack//sign and EVA had a storyline where you were thinking what's happening a lot. Samurai X used the death thing really well. For me it's a few things. Fillers, because nobody loves watching something that seems like it's a total waste of time (naruto). When a storyline doesn't develop as long as it isn't a comedy (gunslinger girl). Comedies are okay, because their emphasis is to make you laugh. I don't want to watch an anime that develops the history and personality of its characters but fails to do anything with them. Make a storyline, make them die at the end, do something with the characters that you spent so much time making me pity, love, hate, etc. An ambiguous ending or an anime that doesn't actually end, especially one that never gets resolved in OVAs or whatever (elfen lied, inuyasha). It's total crap if I watch something and the creators don't know whether they want the character to survive with a happy ending or let the character die, so they decide to walk the fence. I didn't decide to watch an anime so that I could make up my own ending. When an anime based on a manga, deviates from the manga. It doesn't always ruin an anime (FMA), but it can (Claymore). Moreover, this one works only if I've read the manga before I watch the anime. Claymore, for example, *SPOILERS* should have just made it seem as if everyone died. There was no need to make her fight Pricilla and have that lead to one of the other things that ruin anime (an anime that doesn't actually end). Everyone should have "died" and then if they decided to do start a second season, they could show how they survived. That was a waste because I thought the manga did a great ending for the pietra (or whatever it was) arc. *END SPOILERS*Those things that ruins an anime is confusing storyline, death of a character....well that's all....
