Oh boy, my first real post in months... anyways, there are a few things that ruin anime for me.Botched Conversions - If it isn't broken, don't fix it (one of the reasons why Kyoto Animation is becoming my favorite studio of all time). I am a huge purist when it comes to conversions. I figure that if something was popular in its original form, then it shouldn't be changed (I'm looking at you, GONZO...). This is also why I disapprove of a lot of fanfics/doujinshi because the authors usually fail to understand the existing character development/relationships/subtleties and what made the source so great to begin with. In my opinion, anime conversions are hardest to succeed with visual novels because they have so much raw content and character development that fitting enough into a 12 or even a 26 episode time frame or even organizing the story chronologically becomes quite difficult (hence why all of Type-Moon's anime conversions disappoint me), but I digress. This somewhat applies to my subbing vs dubbing argument too.Untapped Potential or Bait and Switch - I could list a whole bunch of anime that fit here; where a series has something really going for it, but ultimately fails to deliver and thus ends up mediocre or worse. That, or the studio just blows their whole budget on the first few episodes and then cries when the whole thing blows up in their face. Nothing pains me more than going into a show that meets/surpasses my expectations at first and then the animators and/or directors get lazy and/or greedy and the whole thing just goes straight to hell.Popular Image - "Oh anime, you mean like Yu-gi-oh and Pokèmon?" or "Yeah, I've only seen [Naruto, DBZ, Bleach, FMA, and/or Death Note]; I consider myself a seasoned anime fan with tons of anime knowledge!" Whenever people say these things, I feel a growing urge to attack their life points directly.Ignorant Japanophiles - It is my honest opinion that people should learn Japanese to watch anime, and not the other way around. Too often have I heard people ignorantly throwing out random honorifics and quoting lines from anime when they have no idea what they mean.Yeah, there are definitely more pet peeves that I have regarding anime, but these are all the ones I can think of at the moment.

I would say it's a dragged episode and/or story arc (See One piece). And as most of the people said, super fillers (See Naruto). But I guess it only happened in an anime that follows a still active manga storyline.I never seen such problem with independent animes (such as any OVA's) or the one that has to follow a finished manga.I don't mind with a little story alterations, I guess they just can't help it, but major alterations do bug me. take Fullmetal Alchemist for example. I love the manga, but the anime is just...

What ruins an anime for me? I'd say it's the length mostly. Usually if it takes more than the standard 26 episodes and an optional movie to say it, it's probably not worth hearing. Some of the greatest anime had even fewer than 26 episodes. Of course, an exception to this rule in my book is Yakitate Japan! 69 episodes of bread-baking goodness. Some of the worst anime are +100 episodes *cough*DBZInuyashanarutobleach*cough*.Beyond that, I'd say the ending can make an awesome anime into something mediocre.

fillers obviously, but also the characters. it completely ruins everything when they make a character, introduce them and everything, then toss them out after a few episodes. its like theyre disposable now. also, if the plot takes sudden turns, that ruins everything too.

When the plot just goes downhill like Death Note or when the fanbase gets too big that people of all sorts keep popping up and destroying your image of the fandom like Ouran

It depends on the type of anime. If you're talking about the adventure/action type anime, what ruins it for me is the romance that develops between the characters...*grumbles*But, generally, what ruins an anime for me is...well, if it has an ugly theme song, that's what ruins it. XD

fillers and repetitive plot or no plot at all (or just really complex). Naruto had a ton of fillers and i just forgot about the main plot and got confused when they got back on track. Pokemon got boring because it was just ash running around catching some rare pokemon and like it'd be resistant at first and then he'd save it from team rocket or something. FLCL had a huge complex plot and i had no idea what was going on but nonetheless it was pretty funny.

Terrible filler and bad voice acting. Other than that, if an anime has a good story, i can play along.

Fillers, obviously. Especially when they're comedy episodes between the more serious ones (Naruto comes to mind...)
