Ace is the son of , Gold Roger (or Gol D. Roger, I like the first one better, even though it takes out the initial D), and Portgas D. Rouge. He is Luffy's adopted brother.It's Ace's job (from Whitebeard) to kill Blackbeard.

Ace's mother (Portgas D. Rouge) kept Ace inside of her for 20 months instead of the usual 9 months, when she gave birth it killed her.Mother: See ^Father: Gol D. RogerRelationship to Luffy: He's been called his brother before, but I'm not entirely sure. I think they're just friends, brothers in the sense that Whitebeard is Ace's father (Not really, they just say that).Whitebeard's Goal: Whitebeard actually wants to make Ace the next Pirate King since he is the son of Gol D. Roger.Ace's Death: It would serve as a message to other pirates who try to become the next Pirate King (Making an example of Ace) and thus ending the Pirate Age.

Also what would Ace's death mean to the pirate world? +200Ace's mother was Portgas D. Rouge and his father was the famous pirate king, Gol D. Rouge. He was kept inside his mother's womb for 20 months to hide his existence from the World Government. She then died when she gave birth to Ace. Ace is an important brother to Luffy. When he was captured, Luffy tried desperately to save Ace when he is captured and Luffy doesn't care about his life when he does so. His father, Gol D. Rouge asked Luffy's grandfather, Monkey D. Garp to raise Ace for him, and ever since he and Luffy grew up together. Whitebeard wanted Ace to become the next pirate king, seeing that his father was one himself. However, Ace wanted Whitebeard to become one instead as he felt that it was his duty and to repay the debt. When Ace died, the pirate world would be greatly weaken and it would cause the pirate age to eventually end.
