if the price of the game isnt a problem. then its a really great game to play. but its a hassle and ur a lil on the poor side.. games like LastChaos and Perfect World are GREAT alternatives. perfect world isnt in english yet. but if u find the right site u can play the jap version with ease ;]

This game is not that big a waste of money, considering the hours of entertainment that it gives. The real question is, whether or not it is a waste of time and whether it is "entertainment" or a series of "fixes".If you ever played, you know what I mean.

I'll agree that it's fairly expensive, but it's only a waste of money if you don't enjoy playing it. I used to be in a hardcore raiding guild, but I quit thanks to school. I've graduated now, so I'm going to get back into it. Overall, I really enjoy the game. It's my first MMO and I don't have many complaints about it.

Okay, consider this, you go to the movies for a couple hours, how much is a ticket? 8-10 dollars? popcorn? add a few more dollars, say you bring your girlfriend, that price almost doubles. so about 20-25 dollars for 2 maybe 3 hours of entertainment. now, lets compare this to WoW or for that matter any other MMO, you play say every other day for a month for about an hour a day, thats saying your a pretty casual player. so 15 hours of entertainment, and how much did you pay? 15 dollars. Its pretty simple, MMOs ARE the cheapest entertainment around, unless you can find a string on the ground and keep entertained by that for the next couple months. Even if you only play when you have time its still cheaper then almost anything else you can do. So it may be too expensive if you dont have a job and get 10 dollars a week from your parents for an allowance, but thats why a good chunk of people who play MMOs are in their late teens on, i cant tell you how many people ive met on MMOs that are in their 30s, they are games built around people that have a budget and notice that its gonna cost more to do anything else.

Truthfully i have a level 70 Rogue now...and honestly i love the game to pieces! it addicted me from day dot, i find that theres is allways something new to do and theres allways some new land to explore i mean you can start a night elf and run him to the human city and quest there, you get a kind of cast-away apeal! i find that the different starting locations and the high end content 40+ is something that WoW is surely to be proud off!

I like the freedom to roam the wilderness, and slay animals. I (shy) also like to disturb others that take the game too seriously. Its also nice to see progress, since ou gain levels etc.

raids (at least higher end ones) actually require teamwork, unlike many other mmorpgs where a single person can go around soloing mobs. Monsters like saph, onyxia and nefarion are just fun. the only classes close to soloable something (20 levels below them) would be the hybrid classes (shaman/paladin/druid) and they don't exactly dps all that much so it would still take a while to kill a monster that's (level wise) weaker than you.

Guild Wars is like a free version of WoW, but you have to buy it at a store first.

I agree. That's why I play 9Dragons. With 9D, you don't feel like you're being cheated. You pay if you want to, you don't if you don't. Also, no instances, no annoying "come right up and kill you" types of people, and genuinely more freedom. Plus, you can heal yourself without wasting MP.

no u dont have to buy guildwar at a store, u can download it and pay for a cd key when u open the program.i do agree with many of the people here, WoW is very addicting, but probably not worth the monthly fee
