it really doesn't matter you don't need to play it. it doesn't trally follow up with KH II. just bits and pieces

I think you should byu CoM before KH II, so you get all those things, what are in KH II, better, because it kinda 'continues' CoM. It's easier if you know what has happened at CoM, althought KH II tells littlebit of it.

Good idea to play CoM first because its easyer to understand some of the things that happens in KH 2 and you will also be less confused about some of the new person but you don't NEED to play CoM to understand KH 2 (this is the most spoiler free reply i can think of).

well if you like the story line i would definately suggest it. i was kinda lost when i played KH2. but if you just like the gameplay i suggest to just get KH2 cause KH CoM is completely different.

If you don't, you'll end up going 'Hey, who the hell is that?' while playing KH2.

Yes, it's recommended that you should. In order for you to understand the storyline and the new characters better, it's recommended that you play KH: COM before you play KH: 2.

Well, for storyline...yes, but for gameplay...noKingdom Hearts COM has a lot of storyline for KH2, but it is generally revealed in 2...but COM gives a broader view on the whole 13th Order/Organization 13 thing

I may be overstating it, but you NEED Chain of Memories to play KHII. Seriously. You need to know who the heck Naminé is, and what Riku has been doing, not to mention it's a lot of history of the Organization that's in there.Of course, you could just get it for GBA, to save some cash, but I wholly recommend getting it in either case.

When I heard that COM cam in between 1 and 2 I thought to play it, found it a good game but kinda forgot to keep playing it, (Luckly I didn't buy it)But on watching the starting Movie for 2 I kinda got everything I needed to know from what happened in COM.Its all their in short, heck even the 'starting movie' for COM was there for a bit...Kinda would like to know more though but I keep dropping off COM for other games...

I would have to agree with many people here. If you don't mind the freaky card based battle system, which can be interesting for a change. I didn't mind it. But if you really like KH for the storyline then I would say it is a must. :)

I think you should, or you could wait and see if Kindom Hearts II: Final Mix actually makes it to america. Then you can play chain of memories in 3d :)

I think it's better to play CoM first, then KH2.....it explains a lot of things.....some of my friends didn't play CoM and there were slightly confused about what was going on in the first few hours of KH2.....but it's not too confusing without CoM, so if you want to know the story, then get it.....if not, then just skip to KH2....
