i recommend you buy com because it really cool and it gives you a sense in the end how the story starts in kh2 so that what i did and i liked it so i recommend you do it

its not really too important to get it.CoM adds a lil bit to the kh2 story, but not enough that you really need to play threw thatannoying card based system.

I think you can do whatever you want.If you want to understand the story - Try to find a novel from internetIf you want to play - have fun : so you can try both of them. Anyway, i prefer Kingdomheart Manga

I got KHII on the European release day, and bounght a pre-owned copy of COM 6 months later (if only I'd known about here...) For me, the story is easy to follow without COM, but COM fills in some of the blanks. But Sora is wearing his stupid clothes though...

com is actually let you know what is happening at the begin of kh2.you can still proceed if you don play com as the story is not really related so much.you just miss some of the member of organisation XIII but to me it does not matter.

COM is really to fill in any blanks in KHII. Otherwise, it is a good, yet annoyingly-clothed game.

if ur a really a fan of the kh series i suggest u play that before u get kh2, or else ull be like.. eh? since when did sora slept in this giant flower? or whos namine? why is kairi soo hawt!, and so so... or u could just wait till square releases kh2final mix + and enjoy it more =D

Wow. Just...wow.... KH: COM is for the Gameboy advance, for one! Two: It was great at it's time! It played FMVs so clearly, and still had room for voices! Yes, I own the game - and yes, I think it's fun - but it's your choice, dude.no you don't i recntly play chain of memorise and it get 1/5 compering to ps2 game

It's been said. Chain of Memories is only needed to understand a few tidbits. To be honest, I saw the opening of KHII and I was lost. So I'm getting CoM to further understand what happened after KH, which I need to play, but am getting info from a friend about.

both games are excellent, but if you're more interested in the storyline i'd get CoM first 
also, if you're a bit confused about the plot, that might help explain it before getting even MORE confused in KH2

You don't need to bother buying Chain of Memories; well, unless you don't like playing ROMs... And like everyone else has said, it'll answer questions that might come up while you're playing KHII. Story-wise, do so. But if you're only in for the gameplay, you don't need to play it.Funnily enough, the first KH game I ever played was Chain of Memories. :3WAIT!!@___@ KHII: Final Mix+ has a revamped version of Chain of Memories. -sigh- Ah well~

I think you should get KH COM because it tells u more about the story and you will be more filled in on whats happened so far.

Well not really, but then again, no just like know the ending like read a spoiler because chain of memories is quite annoying and it is not really worth the extra story understanding. But Buy the Japanese version of Kh2, called final mix 2. Yea then its worth it

i did not play chain of memories before kingdom hearts II and the story was a little confusing to me, but i went online and found out what happened. its not essential to win the game, but the story makes more sense when you know what happens in the time between KH I and II

Chain of Memories really helps the whole storyline of the games. If you just play Kingdom Hearts 1 then go to Kingdom Hearts 2, then you might be confused at first. If you are just interested in killing things with a key, then no point in playing Chain of Memories.
