Urgh, I hated CoM. It had such horrible game play. However, I spose playing it paid off because, as most people have said, you gain a much fuller understanding of the storyline picked up in KH2.
Should I get KH: Chain of Memories before buying Kingdom Hearts 2?

It doesnt really matter... they have basically two different story lines but they are similar and share the same characters... but I would play KH 2 first

I suggest yes.So that you understand KH2 better anjoy it more.Also KH CoM is actually fun. Though only when u get used with the game.

You don't HAVE to get Chain of Memories first but you kinda know more about the storyline if you play it first.

Not really but you get to know more about the storyline. Plus it is for the gameboy... meaning it is portable.

Not really. It doesn't really do much for the story.Events in KH Chain of Memories. The trio are put in a castle where they forget their memories as they move on.Donald, Goofy and Sora save Namine, who put them in a deep sleep for about 2 years while she pieces the memories back together.Thats it. You pretty much re-learn everything in Kingdom Hearts 2. So don't waste your time.

i hated Chain of Memories it was really dumb. I haven't played KH2 ut i wouldnt recommend getting Chain of Memories, it sucked!

Chain of Memories gives a backstory to KH2, if you play it you will know exactly what is going on in KH2
