To each his own really. If it doesn't impede on your rights as a human being then why should it be a problem. If i'm not mistaken Church and State are supposed to be separate in this country. I know this is nearly impossible to accomplish but still, "God doesn't want thems gays getting married" shouldn't be a valid argument. Not in the United States anyways.

ANYWAYS....I still stand by the fact that I believe gay marriage is fine. They wouldn't be bothering you. They probably won't want to marry you. Nor do they even know you. So, in return, they should be allowed to marry. Marriage is about LOVE, not what a book says, sex, or religion as the Church says.

To follow up:In America, even if marriage was a religious issue, then the government has no business sanctifying it. Because then it would be a religious institution, and the government has no right to poke its nose into a religious institution.Ha! Now you lose no matter what you say, unless you agree.

just remember, you can't catch gay...if gay marriages aren't ok? what about interracial? what about between a 50 year old and an 18 year old? if you believe love can happen in the latter two then why not in the first? what, gay's are incapable of love?for those of you who are against gay marriage, go ahead and go up to two people in love and tell them they shouldn't love each other.

saying a genes that make a person gay is somehow special, while the physiological differences between the races or two people 32 years apart is grasping at straws.saying you don't hate gays but you don't want them to get marriage is kind of like telling your three year old son that you have nothing against nerds but if he doesn't grow up to play college football you will disown him. using something like marriage which is a HUMAN INSTITUTION (as in, you can change it and not go against nature) to say one group is different than another IS hateful. why cling onto this idea that marriage HAS to be between a man and a woman? Last I checked 200 years ago black people HAS to be less than white people. Well of course now we realize that kind of notion is idiotic. Sure, marriage might have a definition right now of man + woman, but if all you have to do is to change the definition so you can be nice to these people that you say you don't hate, wouldn't you do it? no?i think i'll just sum it up this waymost people are one of these three typeshate gays = hater, needs to pay more attention during sensitivity trainingopen minded = ok with gay marriage, birds will land on finger and singsays they don't hate gays but is against gay marriage = say they're nice people but do NOTHING TO PROVE IT

If I recall...Who said that gay people had to be married in a church? Whether the Church in itself doesn't believe in it, its a priest's decision to do the marriage. So really...the Church can say whatever it wants. Since God gave us free-will (which proves he CAN'T exist. All-powerful and free-will don't mix, as oil and water can't mix), the priest can do the marriage. Now if your going to complain about that, complain to "God." He's the "one" who appearantly gave us free-will.

Eh. I frankly don't see any problems. If it makes you happy, and doesn't physically harm anyone, go ahead.

so what ur saying is....china needs to have more same sex marriage???

Well, in the sense that the IF I mentioned were to be true. Personally, I dislike same sex marriage, but can I do anything about it? No. All I can do is post my opinion or whatever else.

Sure I think they should have the right to be married... It doesn't necessarily need to be bound by the church, I doubt that will ever happen... Even though the whole notion of marriage being a holy institution that is sanctified between a man and a woman argument is slightly ridiculous when a government official uses it... If they acknowledge and allow divorce, that automatically makes the point moot...Everyone deserves happiness, this type of recognition of a relationship between same sex couples should be honored as anyone else (by the government) who does it hurt? Really..? Well aside from the tax reductions having a common law relation. Small price to pay.

They should be entitled every right that straight people have. discrimination against any group of people is not democratic and just not fair morally. And politicians shouldn't call the marriage anything else either b/c it is what it is (two people who want to be together and who want to proclaim their love).

Sure, why not? It's not like the definition of marriage has never changed. Honestly, it's not like the world's going to end if same-sex marriage is legalized. It's legal where I live. I didn't even notice when it became legalized because nothing really changed.

I still believe they should. They still love someone, yes? They are free citizens, correct? Who are we to ban marriage because the couple loves the same sex? What business is that of ours? If someone mentions something about religion; The Church has no right to do this. Why? Well let me ask you this. Why should the Church care what they do behind closed doors? Is it their business or their concern? Would you like them to care what YOU do as a straight couple behind closed doors? Let them get married. It wouldn't affect straight couples in any way.

I don't think gay marriage should be allowed at all. Marriage is supposed to be between a man and a women, and nothing else.

Around 50 years ago, most people would have said that marriage was supposed to be between a man and a woman of the same race, and nothing else. The definition of marriage will change again, I can guarantee it.

I think the fact that gay marriages are (for the most part) outlawed is ridiculous. It can be comparable to the days when interracial marriages were illegal. :\ Personally though, I don't think the government should have anything to do with marriages in the first place.

It's funny how people get touchy about this subject. If you don't want to know, and you have strong feelings about the subject, then don't read the post. (Duh duh duh) don't try to crucify someone just because they have different opinions. I don't like gays.......at all. I think they need to be threw back into the closet. There is a point were we need to draw the line on what freedom means. this country was based on religion. We need to get back to those roots.
