Gays don't need to have marriage. Civil unions are fine, but by allowing homosexuals that right of marriage we're one step closer to allowing siblings marriage to eachother, then animals to people, then inanimate objects.Leave things as they are.

It hasn't been proven that people are gay from birth, that's an urban myth. Bring me scientific data, and I'll prove your data wrong with my data.

Being gay shouldnt take away your right to get married.People should be able to marry whoever they want without any fuss.

Love is love, no matter what gender you are, although if it's what species you are, that could be a little extreme, but thats just the minority that love animals in a carnal sense, so i don't see what is so wrong about gay marriage, i believe it should be enforced *or wahtever the appropriate word would be* because it is still a wonderful thing

have nothing against it... i mean they'r persons, even if they don't have the same sexual tendency like most ppl, doesn't mean that they don't "deserve" the right to marry... its a free world (well not realy, but it should be), so let them marry as they want, it woun't ruin others ppl lifes if they do marry so... let them be as they want to be :D... keep [ ]

There are really two choices here; you could either allow homosexuals to marry each other, in which case, marriage is a right granted by the government and religions cannot deny people that right. Or you could remove the government benefits given for any and all marriages, since church and state are supposedly separate. This would mean that, though marriage is a religious institution and can thus be denied as the religion desires, it cannot be given benefits by the government in any way. It'd be like the government giving you $10 000 for having a Bar Mitzvah/Bat Mitzvah(It's a Jewish event that I'll not go into detail about), but only if you have blonde hair or green eyes. This would be essentially the same except that the benefits given by the government for marriage would likely outweigh the $10 000 in the long run. So that's it, from a 'human-rights' and 'separation-of-church-and-state' perspective; Either everyone can marry and receive full government benefits (That's "everybody" as in all people), or the religion dictates who can and cannot marry but nobody who marries receives any additional government benefits. Nobody. Not you, not me, not anybody.Of course, if your some sort of pseudo-masochist, you could choose that the religion restricts marriage AND nobody gets government benefits, but that's just plain dumb. Very. Very. Dumb(as in lacking reasoned or intelligent thought). As for going back to the religious roots of the country, that's probably the most short-sighted idea I've ever heard. The best thing that I can see coming from that is Large amounts of internal conflict that would likely severely damage both the economy and the political system. And that's the best case. Worse is if the conflicts cause a schism in the country that leads to segregated groups based on what religion they follow, which has essentially been deemed unconstitutional already. The worst that I can think of (though I don't think it's very likely), is it leads to more crusade-like conflicts, which could lead to a Hitleresque extermination of minority religions, though it wouldn't go as well for the majority religion as it did for the Nazi's, for various reasons.Obviously, the two latter cases are highly unlikely, but going back to religious roots could only possibly be a step backwards. Why do you think we have a (representative) democracy instead of a theocracy anyways? Don't you people like having a say in your own rights and freedoms, as well as the ability to change laws that are inhumane? Don't you?

It doesn't matter to me, God gave us freewill, so I guess he wouldn't care either, think about Genesis 19, crazy stuff, crazy stuff.

Wow, you wrote a paper on it, was it for your "papers that everyone writes" class? What can be said about this topic that hasn't already? Until democrats are in power, there is no chance of this happening. And realistically, probably not even then. Save the talk for when you're elected to congress kids.

Just what exactly does it matter to you, uther? Are you afraid of becoming homosexual? That's usually a sign of latent homosexual tendencies... If you're truly comfortable with your sexuality, what other people do shouldn't mean anything to you... On the other side of things... If you allow them to get married, you won't have to hear about the whole issue anymore, it wouldn't be a big deal and more then likely you would see -less- of them... Since they all aren't up in arms about their rights...Let them get married...

To uther the light: WAAAAAAAAAH!!!oneoneshift!!! MOMMY THERE'S SOME OLD MAN MARRYING A 24 YEAR OLD WOMAN!?Umm...does that affect you? And what do you care that gay couples get married? That's none of your concern. No, i'm not gay myself, however i'm in place for a friend who won't sign up for this.Who am I to deny him his right to marry because he's gay? Is that ANY of my business? Absolutely not. How would you like it if people said "sorry, people with your name aren't allowed to marry because...your blonde." or "because your fiance already is pregnant." (these are just scenrios i'm typing up...)? I don't think you'd like it very much.It won't hurt anything if gay people have the right to marry. Oh, this is a religious issue? Hmm...oh, thats right. You believe that God MADE (keep this word in mind) everyone and everything. But you don't think he MADE (told you to remember it...) gay people? If I were actually religious, I would ask you if they were Jesus in disguse, wanting your understanding. Would the Church be going to hell for what they're doing? I'll let you be the judge of that. However, like I just said, its none of our business what others do. Let them marry. Why should we have the right to forbid it? You wouldn't like it if they banned your marriage would you? That won't happen to you? Then put yourself in the shoes of a gay person.

No they shouldnt be able too because thats just wrong..... (of course since ima guy I wouldnt mind lesbians) That makes absolutely no sense. Lesibans are gay people...So you just contradicted yourself.Besides, they are people. Not some sort of beast we know nothing about. If they marry, no harm done to anyone.

Well, look for my earlier post on how it could... well you'd have to go digging in the topic again lol. It's just a theory really and I don't even think it could possibly happen. Theory was that the Homo population would grow bigger than the Hetero population. Because there are no known ways that Homosexuals can reproduce, if there were far more Homos than Heteros, there would be great population decresing. I'm not completely clear on the world's views (I mean entire freaking world) so that's exactly why it's a theory and also why I don't believe this could seriously happen.

I think gays should have the right to marry just like the non-gays. It's not going to affect the world in any way, so why not let them. I wouldn't go to one though, it creeps me out to see two people of the same sex kiss.
