I prefer first person shooters for the same reasons as the poster above me.Its more realistic and more accurate. Also, it makes m feel more close to the action, like I'm holding the gun.

I prefer 1st person over 3rd person since you get to feel the realism of being the shooter.

For me a real shooting action game must be FP. It's may be weird if you play Doom in third person view. But third person has its own advantage and potential of presentation you know. (e.g. Hitman series)

I like it when you have both (you can switch around), I don't get why everyone hates 3rd person shooters, it's very helpful in a shooter that requires team coordination or has melee combat in addition to ranged combat.

I prefer third person. First person has a degree of immersion the third person games don't have...unless there's a weapon always in view. No one can hold a gun in roughly the same position, ready at all times, for 5-12 hours. My brain tells me this and it takes me out of it a bit. Other things like damage and cover systems really suck in first person games as well. You either get taken to third person when they happen, or you either stand there and take a grenade blast and shrug it off or lean around every single corner.

First person shooter all the way. With 3rd person sometimes you character gets in the way of something and when you are in 1st person it feels more like you are really there.

1st person, it's very distracting looking from behind a guy.

both are great in defferent perspectives. 1st person is great if u want to feel the action, but sometimes it stresses your eyes too much overtime and makes u feel dizzy. 3rd person is great coz u can and appreciate the character (ie. devil may cry). both are great but i'd choose 1st person...

Oh my god... I'm totally addicted to first person shooters, namly Halo and the Elder Scrolls. I'm actually recovering from a recent Doom II addiction :br: (I still play online with Skulltag once in a while) That doesn't mean I don't like 3rd Person Games. I played Total Overdose on Xbox, and it not only was very actiony ( huge shootouts and Matrix-y bulletime effects), but the controls were very easy to pick up. also, Gears of War (best game ever, only played a demo :P ) is, lo and behold, a third person shooter. The Verdict from me: Both camera angles are used in fantastic Games, but developers these days are leaning toward the First Person Shooters. And they are damn good fun, so the Winner from me is First person shooters

There is more skill involved playing a FPS in my mind. Having to AIM a crosshair and move a the same time is more difficult than in 3rd person. But 3rd does give a great degree of play.
