starcraft is a huge sendation at school...we lan with three other schools..its really funoh...and guildwars is kinda fun just because i dont have to fork over 15$ a month to blizzardThere are SOOO many pc games. Most of which are now used to play with others via online. What game do you play, thats online oriented. A game that has such a structured online community that it will be played in years to come. For me personally, I play starcraft. I think it will still be played, even though it is a very old game. While playing Starcraft, it is a RTS game that gets its success from its online community; BNET. With still 100,000 people on it everyday, theres is always a place to talk to someone. You can even chat with people using Diablo or warcraft 3 game. The multiplayer aspect of these games gives reason that it will still be played. Like many rts games, you are to compete against players/computers in a terrain map and build forces to eventually eliminate your opponents. Durations of these games run to 10 minutes to 2 hours at most. Besides its perfect gameplay, sound, and balanced units. The game starcraft has a unique "terrain editor" that lets people create their own mod maps for players to play on.This unique terrain editor has evolved for players to make maps "BEYOND" the game itself. One popular made map is called "helms deep" is made to look like Lord of the Rings: Two towers; the scence where the humans fight 10,000 orcs. What makes it fun is the fact you choose to play as the orcs or humans before the game start. Yes, the game starcraft is a futuristic rts game, with mediocure (spelling?) starship trooper graphics. Players uses their imagination as they role play through the map game. Another popular map game is called "Dodge michael jackson" . This map terrain has spawned many creatures that are wandering around aimlessly and you are given one unit; your goal is to reach the other side of the map without touching those creatures. Simple fun, yet the idea is controversial. One of my favorite mod maps to play is called " Normandy " whereas up to 5 players are given hero units to eliminate german forces within 2hours in this historical simulation of the Normandy Invasion. As years go by, theres always someone creating an out of ordinary map that appeals to every starcraft gamers alike.Another reason why this old game is still solid is simply.... the online community. Theres still a handful of players playing these games and chatting with other people online. Theres a chat room called "Clan recruitment" wheras someone can post or join a clan (guild) and role play in the chat room in a clan. "Why didn't u put games like WoW or everquest or guildwars or (insert game)? they have a solid online community!" I'll leave that post to you guys. I talked about Starcraft becuase it is an old game which people still play. I know 100,000 people doesn't compared to millions of WoW players. My intend was telling reasons WHY they still play this game. SO how bout it? whats a online pc game thats still played/ will be played years to come? Post here
