It does if I'm playing something like Zelda or Mario. If I'm playing Fire Emblem and I get RNG screwed then it just helps in pissing me off which ends up making me depressed because I got mad at a game, which is sad.

It doesn't really "cheer me up", but it makes the time go by. Doesn't really change my mood all too much.

I've never really felt the urge to play a video game when I'm depressed. I mean my girlfriend just left me I don't wanna play lost in blue or something, I don't think I'd even want to play street fighter to take out my anger. Generally when I'm depressed I take a nap and feel a little better when I wake up.Just for the record this was a hypotheticle situation, I didn't break up with my girlfriend. --------------------I've never really felt the urge to play a video game when I'm depressed. Yes! Whenever I'm in a bad mood, I play my ds. I can get lost in a completely different world where my brother isn't there to annoy me. LOL

At work I've got nothing to do really so I just sit and play on my DS (or read a book) and it definitely takes your mind off things

It takes more than a DS to cheer me up. I know a guy who says "It sounds crazy but when I'm stressed out I play video games and take out my anger killing s***"I fail to see how that can compare to being under the influence.

Yeah it does a lot. Well, sometimes it depends on what I'm playing but usually. I get so absorbed into the game that I totally forget everything that's going on around me. Its a nice little zone to just go away to.

My ds is a great companion when there are tough days ahead. It offer true fun and a great companion to alleviate the stressors and fears I am deaLing with and times right now are tough. DS sales are on the up and up and more families find ds's fun and cheerful when days are gloomy and tough

Agreed, It helps to take our minds off of the social problems around us, but even then there is a limit to how much stress a DS can relieve you of. Even so, I have to be honest it does NOT cheer me up, only makes me bored and more bored than before.
