i think it is more based on the pokemon in the game, such as the legendary onesand also, it is probably that they like the color, it sounds cooler, or the just randomly pick one.

I'm pretty much a pokemon fan myself. I owned every single pokemon game out there that's released for the US. To me they're worth buying and to collect.

I always get the oppisite of my Friends, all my friends that play are getting diamond so I am getting Pearl so we can all fill up our pokedex.

Its usually due to what pokemon you get with each game, thats why i chose mine anyway

For me, I start out with the cartridge color, if that doesn't work than I look at the legendary Pokemon, and the if that fails I choose the cooler sounding one.

The company that makes the pokemon games release games like fire red and leaf green and put certain things on one that they dont the other so you ahve to buy both to get everything. Or if you have a little or older brother or sister then doesnt really matter.

I'm sorry, I just had to point that out.On topic: I think I may have tried Pokemon once, and from what i remember, I hated everything about it.But isekold is right, people who buy stuff that sounds or looks better because they are stupid, which is why Pokemon is a top-selling game imo.the people usually buy the one that sounds cooler cuz most people are well ... not intelligent lol

I'd say for a lot of younger kids it comes down to box art or the name of the game. Fire sounds way cooler than leaf, after all. But back when they were just colors, I'm not sure why. I remember my little cousins telling me that Pokemon Red was way better than Blue, and what were the differences? Growlithe/Arcanine and Ekans/Arbok in one, Vulpix/Ninetails and Sandshrew/Sandslash in the other? Not much. I loved Sandshrew, so I played that one. Now with the later ones, I do the research on the net and see which ones have the species that I like best.

i have no preference, but i've played Silver without Gold, and Ruby without Sapphire. of course, silver and ruby (red) are my favorites.

i htink for fire red, it was dude to charizard that it was many peoples favorite. also it might also be teh cover that shows the pokemon n which ppl think is cooler looking

well I ALWAYS choose the water ones.... like saphire..... and I THINK that diamond is the water one......... Well I just appeal to water versions and the legendary pokemon at teh end always helps........

i like all of them. even though i don't have all of them. people usually buy the one that it's the most popular amongst their friends/cousins. some just buy the newest one.
keep going, and eventually you will reach the top.
