I think the DS is designed perfectly, a joystick would only make clutter IMO. I've always been a D-pad guy and like the fact that Nintendo chose to keep it as simple as possible.

What I DO think would have made a good addition is a pressure sensitive D-pad. In 2D games it'd operate just like a normal D-pad, but go to a 3D game that has been specificly programmed for it and you get pressure sensitivity! The harder you push in a direction, the faster the character moves! And the games could have an extra menu option for sensitivity and even disabling the pressure check and using it as normal D-pad!! ;) That way, it's still a good old D-pad, but you get the benefits of analog control with no extra clunk!

personally, a ds is used for touching and getting the feel of new tech. not for the past generation joysticks.

I think that the touchscreen is a good substitute, although a joystick, or analog stick would be nice.

i really feel that if the DS had a joystick it'd be way more easy to control characters and stuff, my fingers are too big for the little D-pad thing and the touchscreen isnt always in effect for all games. what do you guys think?

well, i dont think extra stick for ds. original is so good, dont you think?

I personally don't want a joystick for it, it would be quite inconvenient to play with it in my opinion.
