i would have to strongly disagree!!magickarp is so weak, and Gyarados is only fairly goodMagikarp because Gyarados is cool

i would pick charmander because its easy to train and you can use it to fly. i also like charizard.

how would you even raise magicarps level? all it can do is splash pretty much. but i guess if u wanna use tackle the whole time.Magikarp because Gyarados is cool

Having Eevee as a starter pokemon would be awesome because it can branch out to its many evolutions. Starting with a Larvitar wouldn't be bad either.
