If I'm in public, then mute. If I'm in my own house, then on low volume.

i love playing with sounds. but i'll only play with sounds if it's on computer. on handhelds, i turn off the sound and usually lower the brightness to save battery. i'll play in silence if it means i play more.

I can never play without sounds. Sounds help you to figure out your environment and signals you when to react. I use the charger, so the battery doesn't really matter as much :D

I mute it and listen to my own music. I just like mine better, I guess.

I prefer to play with sounds. It creates an atmosphere for the game, especially in RPG's ^^

it all depends on the game! with a game like monster hunter, sound is definitely beneficial. however, with a game like pokemon.. the sound can become rather annoying. ^_^ any console game, yes. any handheld, usually no, but with exceptions (like monster hunter, as i had mentioned)

In my situation it depends. If the music/sounds are not super annoying, then I will have them up to mid point. If the sounds are annoying, but the music isn't (or vice versa) I will have either off. If both are ultra annoying, then both are turned all the way down. This was especially true for me playing certain handheld games from the gameboy/GBA era.

If I'm trying to conserve battery life, then I will turn the volume off. But I really hate doing so, because I find it's harder for me to concentrate on the game. My timing becomes really bad.

I usually play with sound, just doesn't feel right if i don't hear the music and the sound effects (this comes with exceptions of course)

Sometimes I play with sound, but I often find myself talking with friends in an online chat program so it gets bothersome to have to hear and talk over the background noise.

depends on the environment and the game. if i'm out and about but taking a break, well, going without sound isn't that much a bother. other times, if its a game i've played multiple times and i'm replaying it, but unable to listen, sound is okay to go without. an example of this is i'm currently replaying through super metroid, via a snes emulator on my android tablet. i've been sticking to playing it while i'm at the gym, but because i usually listen to podcasts and music to help make time go by faster, i'll just mute the tablet. super metroid is one of those games i've played so many times, i could probably do some of the background music and such just along in my head :(

Judging a person does not define who they are.
It defines who you are.

Depends on what game. I usually don't listen to the game sound. It's usually so repetitive that it bores the hell out of me, so I just listen to my music instead. But for a game like Zoids, I can't help but listen to their music cause it's so nice and peaceful ^_^

For me, it depends on the game. There are just some games that I can't play without the music whereas other times, I can deal without any music/sound.
