I don't know... it depends, if you want to have fun and really serious about games, then i sugest you buying it, and if you want to try out games BEFORE buying the real game, then download it. Still buying is better

Buy - The downloads work as backups only. (I have yet to see a competent emulator, though.)

I normally bought all my games (Around 10 games if I locate them all) and I also purchased a Max Media Dock in an attempt to make my DS a fully functional multimedia machine and it worked better then I expected when I found I could use a specific application for the Dock and play most Roms. Haven't bought any games since.

I heard that it's possible to catch a virus on your ds lite if you start to download roms for the flash cards that you buy to modify your ds lite. I don't know anyone of my friends that has caught that virus but if you dont' want to waste your money that you spent on buying your ds lite, I wouldn't take the route of downloading roms and loading it on your ds lite. On the other hand, Nintendo is making so much money off of the games. Especially when you're still in school and have no job, it's hard to spare some cash for the games. When I first got my ds lite, I bought Mario kart DS, I still play it. It's the only bought game that I have... hahahah . I mostly just link with other people and play tetris...

I do both. First I try the game by downloading it. Then if I like it I buy the game if I don't I delete the game.If you own the game it is not illegal to have a single backup. The original download is questionable.Besides if playing the game from a flash card is glitch or the download and play doesn't work it is great to be able to go to the cart.Try-then buy is the best of all worlds.Yaesumofo

I just got a DS and I bought my first game. Hopefully I will be able to download games in the future though. The whole flash card and chip thing is confusing though...

I prefer to buy, when I have the money. I like to have boxes and manuals for the game, it feels much more official.

I've bought all my games so far. But I don't know... that might change after I get the R4. Well, if I get the R4. Still new to the whole flash cart scene, though.
