So far, I've purchased all of my US released games. I've usually resorted to downloading for foreign games, although the exception to this would be the Soul Silver I bought a few months ago. Hopefully, with the Acekard I plan to receive soon, I will be able to put some use into NDS downloads.

I perfer to use a R4. It's more convenient-better than carrying multiple games in your pocket at once!

So far I've bought all my DS games but I'm getting an R4 soon. I'll likely still buy stuff I think is really worth it but for the games I want to try or I think might not really be worth the money I'll be downloading them.

I tend to download games, but if I really like em' I buy them afterwards, because I think it's a nice thing to do. Developers need money in their pocket, so to show my appreciation, I buy good games. But by all means, being able to test them for free is awesome.

Download, duh. You can have like 40 games in one cart without having to fiddle around with your DS cartridge storage case every time you want to switch games. However, buying does have its benefits. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver is coming up, and they come with a little piece of hardware called the "Pokewalker". You can put one of your pokemon on it, and it's basically a pedometer. The more you walk, the more EXP the pokemon in the walker gets. There are also some pokemon which are only obtainable with the walker. Also, another example (although not applicable to DS) would be the wireless connecter for Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. There are some things that you just have to buy the actual game for.

I prefer to download them cause that was the only way to play my fav games without troubles (Mario Luigi inside Bowser and Zelda Spirit Tracks only worked on my emulator, not on the DS)

I would buy them but I download them because my kids can play several games on one card. When I buy them, I just see $30-50 flying this way and that...If I could buy them and download them to a card myself, I would do that. I'm just not technically advanced to figure that out...yet.
