For all those who are saying that the PS3 is over priced... this is not true anymore cuz here in canada, the ps3 price is about the same as the Xbox 360 and for the backward compatibility, they fix'd with a patch or you can just get a 40gb/60gb or 80gb ps3 since its like it has a ps2 inside itself =P

No if anything the Ps3 has been screwed by the lack of games which is kinda strange due to how great and popular the Ps1 and Ps2 where and how many people where saying they where going to get a Ps3 couse of the ammount of games it was suppost to be getting, i guess people just saw the ammount of games that where out on the 360 buy the time the Ps3 came out and when they saw the price of the Ps3 and realised they could get a 360 and a copy of every single game out on it for about the same price, also the wii has been a surprise hit which hasn't done neither $ony or Micro$oft any favours

It hasn't screwed them over, but while it still seems to have done "well" its crashing and quickly.

Did the PS3 screw sony over. I think, one poster in the begining of this topic made a good point. The PS3 didn't screw over Sony. Sony screwed up on the PS3.I have to admit that the PS3 is still pretty expensive, but the price is going down to a more reasonable level. Still, there aren't a lot of great games in my genre of play out for the PS3 yet. I've only heard of one game for the PS3 that I'm intrested in and quite frankly it would probably be a better fit for the PS2 or original PS. I think, overtime the PS3 and xbox360 will level out with each other in the market. So, I think it isn't practical to say that the PS3 is destined for complete failure. Then, again I don't really care for any of the games out for the xbox 360. The only half way decent game in my opinion for the xbox 360 is Halo 3. And, I'm not really a fan for first person shooters. And, the only first person shooter game I do like is called "Horned Owl" and its for the original PS. Most of the other games for the xbox 360 seem to be sports games and once you've played one sport game for a given sport. I think a person has really played all of them for the most part.I guess, the xbox 360 still owns the PS3 in terms of online content, but eventually the two will probably even out. Since, the xbox 360 can only release so many online games at a higher rate for so long.Overall, I think the market share for the PS3 will probably even out with the xbox 360. I think, the wii is the future for gaming though. Though, I'm sure some gamers will hold onto the classics so I'm sure that the wii isn't a sign of the end of platform systems like the PS3 and xbox 360.

yes it did on a few points A) the system is to expensive for the average gamer to buy B ) all/ most of the ps3 exclusive games are now on the xbox 360 too because of point A C) not too many great games r out for it now launch lineup got ruined and those are the main points i have and most people will agree with me

reistance fall of man and motorstorm were both gteat games and the price is begining to fall

No, I don't think so, because Sony intend to get in the black with it soon, so it should be profitable for them.I think the scare was that the PS3 would fail to sell. Now that Blu-ray is the remaining HD media format, and the PS3 games library is much stronger ( and with MGS4 coming up in less than 2 months), system sales are higher than those of the 360 worldwide, and tied with it in the US. And this is just with the 40GB version, even though there are probably a lot of people (including me) who are waiting for the 80GB MGS4 package.Short version: The PS3 has proven that it has staying power, so even if it doesn't dominate this generation, it will almost certainly turn in a healthy profit for Sony.

Yes and no. If the prices for the PS3s were lower, and if we had known the repertoire of games for it would've been greater, the PS3 wouldn't have been as screwed in the beginning. Despite that, the PS3 is a worthwhile console, and is worth every penny you paid, or will pay. As with all consoles/handhelds, the best is yet to come.

I think at the start of the PS3's life time, it was considered a flop. It just did not have a good launch. But now that Blu-ray has pretty much won the High def wars, and now that sony has made some high quality games, the ps3 has caught up with the 360. In short, no. It was slow to take off, but over time it has picked up steam, and hopefully will continue to do so.

As a PS3 Owner, I would say no. I feel this way because the PS3's best games are going to come out and bring money into SONY's pockets. As for when it first came out it was a huge screw up.

I wouldn't think the PS3 would screw Sony over, but it could of been better to be more competitive with the other seventh generation games.

I believe that the PS3 wasn't that much of a failure as it was thought to be. The only fault would be its desire of being to ambitious, thus causing the high prices for the system and game development, which led to many exclusives opting for another system. Seriously, the PS3 may have been brought into the picture at a wrong time, either too early or too late (can't decide though).

The whole case with PS3 did cost Sony a bit of money.. and time. The PS3 was delayed. People afraid of the controller would be the"boomerang" and Immersion case with the multi-million dollar payment..The original PS3 was too expensive to make, two (40 GB and 60 GB) boomedinto 4-5 different PS3..Seen at that time it wasn't looking so well..But I think in the future, the PS3 will "serve" both the people and Sony well.. :(
