I like games with a good plot/storyline, catchy music, good gaming mechanics (good movements and good key configs), and last but not least... with enough action as to make me feel I'm part of the game, but not too much (that's the reason I don't enjoy RPGs very much).

The Ultimate game would have to be (in my eyes):1) Story has to be driven strong. Unique characters in which some you will hate, love, adore, despise, and relate to.2) Gameplay for sure. It has to be mostly roam free-style. Choices to make and consequences to take!3) Extras! Extras! Mini-games, mixing, growing, (i.e Harvest Moon's farm; Suikoden's castle; La Pucelle's alchemy mixing, or Ragnarok Online's forging)4) Different visuals of the characters. None of that same, bland costumes and weaponry. (i.e Shining Force EXA's costume changing when you equip different gears/weapons)Overall, if there is a game that has all these elements put together. That will be the total existence of RPG gaming (IMO)

All though many people like the extra things (like mini-games). I would rather have fewer mini-games, and have a longer, more challenging game that is just as fun the second, or third time around.

for me, a good storyline (preferably with some romance) repeatable gameplay and about half way between a beat'em up, an rpg, and a shooter

For one, it's not about the reviews (unlike my friend...who doesn't play a game unless it has a good review.) Everyone has a different taste. Me? I think a good game is a game that is so enjoyable that you could play it numerous times just for the heck of it and never get tired of the storyline, battles, or anything else. It has to be unique in it's little own way. To me, a good example would be Earthbound.

Like it's been said before, more than talking about graphics or gameplay or whatever characteristic, it all sums up with one simple thing: Entertainment. While likings can vary just too much from each person to another, in the end, what we all are looking for is amusement, and it can be found in the most diverse games, and we can find often that those entertaining games are mostly a good combination of many of their aspects, maybe not the best graphics or music, but a perfect balance of all these characteristics. After all, it's just about entertainment.

In my view a game should be compelling not addicting. I find that if a game is fun but not that fun I can get up and always come back, but when it gets to a point when the game becomes so addicting that I can't get up it becomes very bad.

Well, it needs a decent plot with all three types of villians (the grunts, the deluded, and the masterminds). It also can't sound canned...like everyone saves the world. C'mon, go for something a bit smaller. It needs engaging music, certainly. I don't want to drop $50 for a music with crappy music. Finally, it needs to be able to be replayed easily.

In my opinion I like games that have sharp graphics, glowing effect(gears of war), sandbox rpg and fps, complicated story and gameplay. Those are some but there are more.

For me it is atmosphere. I like the feel of the game. The way the setting looks, and the mood the music adds to it. The personality of the characters. All of that comes together to make a great game for me.

It needs to have a good quality single player and either multiplayer or a replayable single player.

lemme see...a game that's mmorpg (that's obviously my opinion), with a lot of things to do, good graphics, very realistic, no cheating, macro, or anything like that, no peak time, free2play with options, and more i guess

a game has to have a good story fun gameplay and okay and appropiate graphics to be good. if you make a naruto game with gears of war graphics it doesn't work, the graphics need to fit the style of play.

Well, I am currently going to school for game and simulation...I don't have my GSP book on me but from what I can remember from genre to genre it changes. But what I remember most is that the professor at least believed, and the book confirmed this somewhat is that the immersion of the player is the most important. When you think about it, the immersion is you becoming empathetic, and involved with the characters in a story based game. In say a puzzle game I would consider it forgetting about your surroundings and focusing on the game, so immersion is the attribute that makes the player get into the game, and probably has something to do with you thinking you like it.I have played several flash games, that I thought at the time that I didn't like it...then I beat it, or came to a stopping point and realized I had lost 2 or 3 hours of time. I assume that meant that I liked the game, and thinking back I do like it...I don't think I want to play again though...mostly cause I don't want to lose 3 hours playing.

A good game has to have things to do. It has to be interesting and has to have replayability. A good story line and decent graphics are also a plus.

To me many things must be there for a good game. First there has to be multiplayer. It just isn't the same without some multiplayer action. Oh yeah I like when there are bots. The graphics have to be decent. If there is co-op, then you hit my sweet spot. I simply adore co-op. It's really fun. Controls have to be nice and easy. Yep that's it.
