When all the PlayStation 2 games get released, but it may still be popular since Playstation 3 is junk. I'll say its going to be considered dead next year.

it will probably die in 5-6 years not in a BOOM!!!! sort of way but will slowly fizzle out then die. But PS2 will always live in our hearts forevermore.Amen.

PS2 won't die for a while, because there are still ps2 games coming out with teh ps3 and wii and xbox 360 etc.

Well, I hope the PS2 doesn't die soon because I don't want to get a PS3. But more than likely, the PS2 will end very soon to get people to buy the expensive PS3.

Ps1 died a year after ps2 came out so i expect that for the ps2. But with that being said many people still buy ps1 games so i think ps2 can last a while.

Agreed. My ps2 is still my console of choice. It beats out my ps3, ds, and computer. Game developers know this too. How many new games have a ps2 version releasing simultaneously (ex. Star Wars: Force Unleashed). I can't think of any other time in history that this has happened.the ps2 will never be dead in my eyes

its dead when it dont load games anymore i do belive!!! i have two that i currently use as paper weightswell i think they are still releasing new games on the older consoles cause of the steep price hike in the next gen systems

OMG PS2 is dying so fast if you look at all the games that are coming now they all suck. There all such worthless kiddy games with bad looks to boot. So id say it will last until this chrismas then people will be givin it the boot.

I'll give it about a year or two before the major game companies slowly stop developing games for the system. Then it will fade away. :(I'm still enjoying the Playstation 2 until the Playstation 3 gets some decent backwards compability or a larger game library.

The PS2 will probably never die, as I still have friends who play the NES and enjoy it greatly. The PS2 will probaly be just like that, especially since the backwards compatibility of the PS3 SUCKS! But, even now, the PS2 is still up there with the Wii, as far as the games being released, but the PS2 will definitely not go down easily.

The Ps2 is not dead. The ps3 costs too much and there are some pretty jrpg released out there.

Because Sony made PS3 incompatible with PS2 games. not everyone wants to switch over so the PS2 probably wont die for a very long time. Sneaky Sony. :<

I hope it will last for a long time.That said, I think it will die soon.I am really unhappy about that, because Sony dropped the ball with the PS3. Sorry to any fans, but IMO and in the eyes of many others, the PS3 is garbage. A lot of people thought the PS2 was better than the X-Box and so did I. But 360 has laid the PS3 to waste without question (having halo exclusively helped but that wasn't the only reason). So if I shift over, it will be to 360 and I am really hesitant to do that. Oh well. Heres to the years it lasted,
