We still have our PS2. But the game stores here definitely don't have very many games to choose from so I can see it's a dying console. Ebay won't fail us though for game buying.

It isn't so popular anymore now. I rarely see PS2's at my friends house. They are either under their beds or in their closets...

I think the PS2 is pretty much dead now, the games that are coming out now has no hype and are mostly sports. Though it still has a ton of games on it.

The PS2 has gone the way of the GBC. Those who grew up with one will retain it for nostalgic value, as a reminder of the good times during childhood and adolescence spent with friends or alone, immersed in a fictional world. Through the good times and the bad times, the PS2 has been beside us to help us relax and have fun. We cant let it die!

I have had my PS2 slim for many years now, and I have to say that I will never get tired of my beloved system. I've wanted to upgrade to an Xbox or PS3 for sooo long but have just never gotten around to it. In the mean time i'm going to be investing in an R4i flash card and a brand spanking new Nintendo DSi, but as I move onto the newer generation systems i'll never forget the years fun I got out of my Sony PlayStation 2lest we forget

Usually when a new system comes out, 1-3 months later, the previous system is "dead"PS2 is not going down without a fight, nobody wants to see it die, but it'll happenWhen do you think it'll die?I think it'll be dead when games like MGS4, GTA4, and Assassins creed comes out, early january 2008

its 2010 and the ps2 is not dead yet

My PS2 died on me about a year ago. It won't turn on anymore and I can't afford a next-gen console.

I suppose this is probably the last year any games will come out for ps2 so I'll say RIP PS2 2000-2010. But I'm actually planning to buy another one soon, unless new PS3s become backwards compatible through a software update.

The ps3 doesn't play ps2 games so they might make ps2 games longer than usual for the majority of the people who only have ps2.

You do realize that's not what this thread was implying, right? It stands for the P.S.2 as an entity rather than individual P.S.2's. I imagine it's staying alive primarily because of tons of ports from 360 to P.S.2, which is easier to do than 360 to P.S.3, based on C.P.U. program difficulty and the fact that the P.S.2 is the highest-selling console of all-time. That's by the way, pretty impressive considering how many the S.N.E.S. sold during its day. BTW, June 2010, and they're still releasing games for it. :(

I am a little surprised that it is still going as strong as it has. The original Xbox didn't have much traction after the 360 came out but I guess the much larger owner base of the PS2 has kept it on live support. I have both a fat and slim and use them to fiddle around with more than serious play. Things like Rock Band are still the same so it is good for the kids.

I never owned a PS2, but since I had many friends and family that owned one, I am sure that it may die down after a few more years, but it's presence will have made it a classic to behold.

Not many games are being made for it anymore, which saddens me. I don't own a PS3 (though I have a 360), and I don't see much of a point in getting one since my PS2 is still my most-played game console. Even if no more games come out for it, the system itself will never "die" for me.
