Straight guys tend to like lesbians, which was prolly why yuri was created in the first place.Actually, the original yuri series were aimed at a female audience, due to the emotional aspects of the series fitting in better with shojo (see: Rose of Versailles, Claudine...!) although there are plenty of Maka-Makas and Strawberry Panic!s to go around. Me? I like both- to me, as long as I like the pairing (i.e. no characters who clearly hate each other, not even in a tsundere way), it's good. I prefer yuri, but it's all good... It's all good! Anyway, my favourite yuri series out there right now is Candy Boy. Anyone else watching it?

I told myself I would never watch any of the two, but I'm now one of the ultimate yaoi fans. :P I don't mind yuri (Maria-sama ga Mite iru is an interesting anime. :)) but I'd prefer yaoi any day.

Nah, I can't stand pairing with the same sex. :) I'm a girl but I don't like yuri or yaoi pairing. I found those a lot when I'm reading a fanfiction. I am still fond of normal pairing, boy-girl couple. I would not choose any of it.

Love is love :) I accept both but I would only watch yaoi only if the characters are hot :XX and yuri... I don't mind it but I rather not if I didn't have to, although some books that I thought were hetero turned out to be yuri D:, the story wasn't that bad.

I don't care either way. I just don't like when it's too much about people touching each other than about the story

I find yuri interesting since most of the time it's about some serious love trouble, tragedy and drama and other times it's more about two girls in love with each other clinging to each other if it would have been a guy at that time (in a manga) then it would most likely have turned realy perverted (cuteness>pervertness), those kindsof yuri mangas would be my favorites but there is some that is filled with fanservice or complete randomness which i can't stand and feels like it would be a waste of time continue reading since those lack the deep plot/ character development in other yuri's.Yaoi is as faraway from what i read as possible from what i've seen it's mostly about endless happines, pervertness, lack of interesting plot, to random, to smuty or to much fan-service. I thougt that they would be more like yuri, kinda a forbidden fruit romance/drama since the main difference would have been that their gender would have been the opposite which souldn't matter that much unless it's porn i'm watching, and then there is the fact that most yaoi writters seems to be girls that mass produces them for other girls rather than writing a story for both sexes with a thouching plot and half of the time the guys looks realy girly rather than like guys.

Reading yaoi or yuri doesn't necessarily determine your sexual preference. :gs:;'Real' yuri mangas (as in, ones that weren't made only to fufill men's fantasies :() tend to be a lot more complicated and depressing than yaoi mangas with more serious adult themes and girl problems. Most of them make me cry because of their bittersweet endings.. That's probabbly why I choose to read more yaoi than yuri..Yaoi on the other hand tends to have more simplistic shoujo-type storylines which are usually really predictable but really cute at the same time. =D It's also easily accessible due to the fact that there are so many fangirls (and sometimes fanboys) in the world. Not to mention the fact that it has LOADS of bishies ^________________________________^;

I totally understands everything you are saying but i prefer yuri since they are more depressing and serious than yaoi, and yaoi seem to be the everythings fine and fanservice kind of stuff which i dislikes and they don't seem to have very complicated plot.

Yaoi is not cool, I'm not into Yaoi. Yuri is hot, very hot and I'm very into seeing Yuri in animes. In fact I seek out animes with Yuri and watch them after I've finished updating myself on popular anime.

Honestly, I like both of them as much as I like your standard het relationships in anime/manga/etc.If the characters are good fits together--that is, if the personalities don't make it impossible, if they have some kind of background with each other to draw on that can be interpreted as visibly supporting the idea, and so forth--then I will contently read/watch it. I like the potential dynamics that are added, and it's fun to explore the workings of a relationship (mental and physical) and how it changes when both members are of the same sex. Well-written yaoi/yuri can be absolutely fascinating, just as other types of relationships can be.

I like both, they have cuter story lines then some of the normal romance things. And some of them are hilarious! :o

In all reality, I find them disturbing and quite unreal. If I could sum them up with a single word, I' d go with, "sickening." However, I do have some friends that like them. Hey, don't judge me.

Sometimes I feel I'm the only girl who doesn't like yaoi. I'm friends with gay people but I find yaoi cliche.

I'm also a dude but yuris don't turn me on, yaois give me a sickening feeling. I prevent myself from stumbling on both.

Being a guy, I like Yuri to some extent, as long as it doesn't get too wierd on me. Seeing Yaoi always seems to make me laugh for some reason though... It is kinda hard to explain.

For me Yuri is out of the question unless it has a mature, but light theme that concentrates on the life of the couple not just the fact that they're lesbo.Yaoi.... i would love to hate it but BL just makes me sequel and i've found a couple mangas that i really enjoy where its more about the lurve for each other then the sex part...(personally i prefer it when they imply the sex but don't adjectivally show every scene)

Well... as a male of my species, I love Yuri, in just about every shape and form. Yaoi... well, it has to be very well done. In general, I'm not a fan, but there are exceptions.

I like yaoi, in some cases more than het. My knee-jerk reaction to yuri is "ew I don't want to see that" but I've been blindsided by it in some stories I've read and liked it....I'd still rather see hot guys though. :o

I actually like Yaoi and Yuri to be honest. However, I do find myself having the problem of turning back stories that I think are promising...just to be poorly written/drawn. If the story is well written/drawn, then I can get into it. Honestly, I honestly think the reason why some people get turned off by Yaoi and Yuri is because of the pit fall of doing the P/WP? type of stories.
