Because people are fickle and game deveopers are smart. Instead of coming up with a new concept, they just keep recycling the same one and realeasing two versions with only one pokemon that is different and in alot of cases people will go out and buy both so they can "catch them all". They have also released the new Sinoh TV series, so that always helps.

It brings back the memories of the first release of Pokemon. It's really fun to play and especially when you're competing with your friends to complete the game.

There's nothing else to do. Also, this "EV training" seems interesting.

Maybe it's because they have the 'addicting' X-factor that makes people get obsessive with it. Furthermore, they have nice storyline.

Like most people said, Pokemon is a classic game. People like to return to their roots! Kinda like how you can play old school games over and over (ie. Mario)

It's a classic game with lots of replay value and in every version almost 100 new ones are added.

I dont know man........I quit....and I come back........quit again....and so on.This game is fun when you have noting else to do :P I personally play WoW on PC and have Wii/PS2 to play....the only time I play DS is when i am on a bus or washroom (yeah lol I do play games when i poop hahahah)......anyways reason why I keep coming back is because I personally LOVE these types of game, catch monster, raise them to become an ultimate beast, play against some buddies of mine......damn I LOVE these sorta RPG man! Not particularly into Pokemon but I am all in for these type of games.

Very simple answer actually, the Pokemon series are one of the greatest semi-RPG's ever appeared on Nintendo Game Boy handhelds, and despite the fact the games were made for children, it had a very very addictive gameplay, so that older people also lover the series and so heavily played it. In my eyes, one of Nintendo's most brilliant market strategies to bring out 2 seperate games with in fact the same content (see Pokemon red-blue, silver-gold, ruby-sapphire,diamond-pearl)....

When Pokemon Blue and Red came out they were the biggest thing out there. If you notice though, Pokemon has a big reputation and a TV show and trading cards, plus the fact that it is one of the biggest events in pop culture during the 90's giving it a huge credit. That generation of kids though moved on and now the 3rd or 4th generation of kids since the latter have now decided to try it out because of it's legacy and promotion. In Layman's terms, it's just trying to make the same profits from its original debut as a returning legendary fad targeted at younger audiences.

Pokemon is a great game for all ages, well... from elementary to college maybe. for the younger ones it's just pure fun, for the older ones it actually requires a LOT of strategy and knowledge, so all in all it's a good game.
