I have been with Pokemon from the beginning of my gaming life being the first game i ever played, but now with diamond and pearl people are back to playing in public thats all

I agree, Pokemon was the first game that I ever played and I've been with it since I got the game, and now I'm excited waiting for the third game for Diamond and Pearl, Pokemon Platinum.People have gone back to playing Pokemon in public because Diamond and Pearl are good games, and it is very popular, clearly.

Well, everyone had more than likely played Pokemon at least once! That one time they did, they either beat the game 'n' continued followin' the game series / gave up on it sayin' it was too troublesome or wasn't appealin' to them. But when the newer series come out, you either get bored 'n' play it just for fun, then get really addicted to it / you get really curious as to how it has, "improved" from the last one, then you end up gettin' addicted to it be it for new gameplay, increase in how much Pokemon you have to catch [ One of the main goals of the game, so yeah... That'd make sense ] or somethin' of that nature. That's what I believe anyway from what I've seen 'n' know...

agreed, most people in my school claim they hated pokemon before DP came out, and I've seen them playing it when it did come out.

Well when you are fan of certain game you will naturally try any new game of the series that comes out. It's only natural you know.I for example like the pokemon games, honestly i'm not the biggest fan you can find around but i still try the new games that are coming out because i like the idea and the atmosphere...imagine if i were a true fan of the game :)

Over pokemon here, didn't you all get bored of it once you finished the second or third different colour? I like my DS because it keeps me entertained, not so I can mindlessly fight pokemon battles whenever I switch it on.

i dunno man, pokemon hasn't been changed since GB, and they're gonna keep makin em the same until it stops selling which is never... if they wanted to, well the least they could've done was to incorporate touch to the ds one.

Well between the regular Gameboy and the DS, I guess the GBA just wasn't as popular. So lots of people who skipped the GBA got the DS and are now back into playing Pokemon.

I think it's mainly that pokemon is a classic. It's been around for what, 10 years? It's one of the greatest games nintendo has created (in my opinion), so it's completely natural that people flock to it!

I go back to pokemon because it's addictive and actually a very well designed RPG. It has a fair (if expected) storyline, progressively strong opponents, and a wide range of pokemon that change. Throughout the game, there's lots of things to collect (pokemon, evolution stones, money, etc), puzzles to solve, and once you beat it, the game isn't really over as new areas become available. In other words, it's a good series.

Well, apparantly there are also new reasons, such as events appearing in games stores, especially Toys R Us, where you can get legendaries through event only. People preparing for these events can also be considered as a reason.

I only go to the RPG style games because I am addicted to RPG's, I have no use for the TCG and other games. The element of collection brings most people back. OCD games like this have a huge market. Look at Monster Rancher, DQM, Pokemon, and any other game where the goal is to collect and conquer. No matter how bad the games may get, you keep falling right back into it.

I think it is because the game is very easy to use and understand making it popular among the PK players, that and the "Thrill" of new pokemon makes it more popular, I miself had played several versions, each time they say it might be the last, then they end up with a new one ^_^

I sorta got turned off from Pokemon around Sapphire/Ruby's time, but then I got back into it when I played the Mystery Dungeon series. I think it's a good deviation from the normal running around as a trainer to catch them. I might try out Diamond or Pearl, but it's not likely.
