POkemon is a diverse series excellently made for PVP styles, hence it's excellent for people to test wits versus each other. And each gen has their own Pokemon that you feel is cool.

They are? Mostly people who still play are people who've stuck with it all this time.

If you've been playing, what's the point of playing something so similar?Anyway, there are new Pokemon, new trainers, and most importantly, new Gym Leaders.People left because there wasn't anything new, but since D&P came out it has been pretty popular.

No one ever left pokemon, it's awesome. I don't care how nerdy it sounds, I still collect the cards, too.

There are so many reasons to love pokemon.I started loving pokemon red and blue around 1996, when i was 6 years old. I saved up the 100 dollars to buy a Turquoise Game boy, the closest thing to my fav color blue, and the red and blue version game packs seperately. This began my gaming habits.I bought the N64 an a playstation, but was drawn to nintendo for it's innovation. I suscribed to Nintendo Power for years, mostly for the pokemon section. I hated when it was shortened to 2 pages, got really mad when it was taken away, then didn't bother when it came back, because i knew by then that it wasn't going to stay long.Gold and silver came out, and i loved it. Until i reached the kanto area. It was boring, and skipped along alot. The challenges streched but they could have done much better. I gamesharked my gold and silver till they didn't start anymore, and my original packs from the series no longer worked due to their oldness.Hitting high school, I tossed out my Pokemon cards. There were alot of em from the beginning, but the card game died to me when there were five versions of an eevee out. A level system of some sort should have been incorporated if they wanted to do something like that, not just mention something, but have a level up option. Then you could use a side deck kinda like yugioh. Oh well?I was taking a break from pokemon by then, having been convinced by my parents i was too old. I found out that the opposite was true, and came back to the series. I'v bought every 3rd gen game and lost them all, but I've trained a ridiculous amount of pokemon in the hopes of creating a gym theme for my teams. While I almost completed 6 of every type (dragons were hard, I didn't want legendary), I lost my game pack and the dream is dead for now.I am an avid fan, and always was, with pokemon part of my childhood. I did not announce my love for pokemon before, but now I love to advertise. I have a small collection of tatoos and stickers from the original era that I'd love to go around and advertise, but I wouldn't be able to get more, which is the only thing stopping me from using the kiddy tatoos daily. So why are people coming back? It's obvious. The original was given perfect scores. That is why people think the sequels cannot live up to the original. And i agree, because it was just so darned hardcore. Almost anyone who was given a gameboy and the pokemon game pack and a spare hour would love to play the game, and with 5 hours, you'd be hooked. Pokemon became so popular it became cool to love it, and to hate it. Much like that there are elitist music listeners who reject any band that makes it into main stream media, so did these people who did not understand or never got to experience THE POKEMON. perhaps rightfully called "Haters", these people put peer pressure on others to reject pokemon like they had, and those with a casual intrest in pokemon were scared away at the apparent decline in prominence of pokemon fans. However, with the pokemon project spanning over ten years, anyone who has tried Pokemon during one of its iterations will have fond memories of it. This is drawing them back to pokemon. People thought that pokemon would die out, just vanish into obscurity eventually. However, Pokemon's longvivity has called back the first generation of fans, and is continuing to spread amoung the second generation of fans. Instead of dying out, Pokemon has rekindled the fire in our eyes, the warmth in our hearts, and dares to rise up from the ashes of supposed defeat by critics and lovers alike.Compare the final fantasy series to pokemon. Final fantasy is reaching it's 13 title in the series, an amazing feat. Pokemon spans 4 generations, Red/Blue/Yellow, Gold/Silver/Crystal, Ruby/Saphire/Emerald, and Diamond/Pearl, and even Platinum, a game just recently announced being developed. Not only the 4 games of the series, there is also POkemon Stadium and Pokemon Stadium 2. For the Gamecube is Pokemon Colluseum and it's sequel,- Gale of Darkness. There has also been the Pokemon Trading Card Video Game, Pokemon Pinball and it's newer sequel, Pokemon mystery dungeon, which is two games that got their own 2 sequels, and Pokemon ranger and the new Pokemon Ranger 2. Do not forget the anime and all the promotional items involved in sales. Pokemon has been going strong for a long time as a series, and is standing as strong as Metroid, Mario, and Zelda. MY opinion is that as long as the developers continue to try new innovative things, instead of just throwing out games with Pokemon titles, Pokemon will become known by our grandkids much like our other ancient gaming icons. Long live Pikachu.

I'm going to go back to Pokemon for a little bit because I just got my Darkrai from the Toys R Us event. And I don't think people really left Pokemon in the first place. It's just that whenever there's a new game (not counting console versions or yellow, crystal, emerald) people buy it.

I personally, just my opinion, love the new (well not really new) Pokemon games. They let you have the classic fun of customizing your desired party, but in a brand new adventure. Besides, the graphics are nice. Isn't it fun to look back at how far we've come?

pokemon is the kind of game that is addictive, you get bored of it, and you come back to itthe addition of new things keeps the sense of discovery one has the first time while making the games increasingly complex, but simple enough to join at any time
