Well I have to admit I've always loved Pokemon ^^ Played since Pokemon Red and .. let me think .. yea I've played all of the games. I've tried about every sidegame too, like Pokemon Ranger and the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. And let's not forget about the Gamecube games, but this isn't a Gamecube forum.
WHy are people going back to pokemon?

Because the new features in Platinum look EXCELLENT! I seriously can not wait to get my hands on this game. I loved Diamond/Pearl (I had Pearl) and I still play it. Platinum adds so many cool features, how could I *not* want it?

Well, pokemon is really cool in a really random way, plus now they've started making games that aren't just walking around battling and catching, more and more people are getting into it

Pokemon is a huge thing for all the Nintendo fan boys, and since Nintendo keep throwing out more Pokemon games, it draws people in to see what keeps it going.People loved the originals, and this keeps them playing through all the new ones.

Pokemon has always had a strangle hold on the public, it just weakens in between games, and then people want to play the old ones again, you can even download Pokemon Platinum here already, not in english of course

Because pokemon is a fairly easy game to play and isn't very serious. That way you can play it for 5 minutes and then save and come back to it in an hour or so.

I think, IMO, that for people like me, Pokemon reminds them of their childhood. It makes me remember the nights i stayed up until 6 in the morning trying to get Eevee to go to Umbreon.

Pokèmon is a simple, but very enjoyable game. People tend to make it seem like pokèmon is easy, child-like, and just a way to keep ADD, ADHD, and OCD kids occupied, but in reality it's not. I've been challenged by pokèmon games many times and I know adulkts who still play pokèmon. Also, if you're and online battler, you gotta be smart. Nowadays you gotta be aware of IV's, EV's, Natures, Stats, Moves, Combos, Strategies, and what item to use. Just looking at online battleing boards makes me turn away in fright

Pokemon isn't that easy. It's also a game of strategy, which no one really uses these days. They think that by using Master Balls and Rare Candies, it'll be enough, but against a skilled trainer (such as I) who selectively raises pokemons, they'll be crushed easily. It's like raising pets; you gotta know what to do to keep the pokemon on the go.

I agree Pokemon is a lame game and I never liked it. Not even when it came out and everyone else in the third grade talked about it. I had always thought Pokemon was a waste of time, but once I start playing the game, I get hooked on it for about 3 months. I can't do anything else, but once that time passes, I just lost intrest. I think people like playing pokemon because it's addicting and unlike me do not lose interest in the game and decide they want more of the same thing with different looking animals to play with.

because it's such a classic game and there are so many ways you can continue to keep the series alive, i.e new pokemon, playing as a pokemon......etc and cuz it was a fun challenging game

Rofl at all the stat awareness these days.. I remember back in the day of Blue and Red, to try and manipulate all the EVs was absolute hell. IVs werent even bothered with >.>;; But I digress. To me, Pokemon is purely an excellent form of entertainment. That is why it is such a highly selling game, that is why so many people have played, and continue to play this game right to this very day.
