The games themselves are still solid, in my belief. At the very least, I will keep coming back, with each new generation released, despite the "kiddy" image that some people still hold, despite Nintendo of America being a little more averse to the original ideas of releasing the Legendaries that many players have heard about, and despite the TV show and movies that are the major reason why the "kiddy" label stuck, and I will keep coming back because the battle system is still solid, after all these years, after four generations, where every strategy you can concoct with a 3, 4, or 6 member team has a counter, and every strategy, if put in the hands of one who knows how to use it, is viable. It's the very meat of the game that keeps me coming back, each generation.

No matter what versions of it that are out there pokemon is still a great show and game. I play Pokemon Mystery Red myself. It is fasinateing when you understand how far Pokemon has Evolved from. Even Ash has evolved form a newly made ignoirent trainer in to someone who will become a master someday.

Pokemon never desepear of my life. Pokemon is old but every game is new, new ideas, news item, news pokemon, new team (rocket, aqua, magma, galaxy...).The only problem of the series is it logic. exemple in blue version Pikachu evolution is Pikachu --> Raichuin Gold version Pitchu (in french) --> pikachu --> Raichu and now in Diamond Posipi or Negapi (in French) --> Pitchu --> Pikachu --> Raichu, they pokemon under the basic, strange? Moreover, pokemon game are all for ecological ideas (animal or nature preservation).Pokemon is also like a drug, when you see an episode or play one time the game, you will never forget it.

WHy are people going back to pokemon?I don't get it...Explain...

i think it's quite reasonable.you take really long to complete the game and catch all those rare pokemon if you play it right.jt dont get the point why they cheat, personally.and the new diamond and pearl have really good reasons.there are many many many new pokemon you never knew about and new characters.with the new touch screen comes a new way to make poffins known as "pokeblocks" in the past.a new contest format and battling with new moves and abilities.new evil people and more new things.especially since the ds has functions the other game consoles dont(:

I have no idea, but it was JUST like when Yu-Gi-Oh when it first came out. It was good when it FIRST came out, then it gradually got worse and worse as time passed >_>

Pokémon itself was a cool idea for game; it's just been made fun of and ripped-off so many times, everyone thinks it's stupid to like it at this point. And Pokémon is my childhood, so I get nostalgic sometimes.

I know it's probably been touched at before, but the reason that I still play it from time to time is more or less for nostalgia's sake. The newest games, however, have semi-3D graphics that fail to achieve much visually and a very poor area design to the point where you can't get around without having a single HM-requiring team to push you everywhere, so if it weren't for nostalgia, I'd have tossed the game a long time ago.

Going back? When did they ever leave anyway? :D With the phenomenal success of Pokemon, the competition tried hard to minimize its impact. Its uniqueness changed the world of gaming and people will always support it. Although I think most players have matured from the games
