One of the first fighting games that i can recall playing was the old Kung Fu, the one with two joysticks that you moved to make the moves. But even on the older computers, I remember the game called puglistic wars.. Where you could pick two boxers from any time period, like Smoking Joe Freaser, and put him up against say like a young Mike Tyson, and it would tell you who would have won the match.

I remembered playing Urban Fighter for the NES.

First fighting game I really played was urban champion for the family computer. Two generic fighters that can be controlled by one or two players. Each fighters keep punching each other till one of em gets knocked down the manhole.Urban Champion is being remade to the 3DS.

There you go... I thought it was Urban Fighter. Then it was urban champion.. I think I need a memory jolt .. I already made a mistake in the title. It was fun playing it in two players mode whenever cops arrives at the scene hahhahha

It was probably Street Fighter 2. That's the first one I remember... I think. If you mean the first game I actually learned to play... it was one of those Gameboy Mortal Kombats, but I can't remember which one off the top of my head.

well... it's complicated... i live in russia. maybe somebody hear or know about it. we have very high piracy rate... very high...
so my first fighting game was an unlicensed pirate port of street fighter 2 for dendy (pirate version of nes\famicom)...
as for licensed game it was TMNT - tournament fighters... for dendy of course :)
