Because no matter how many times you beat the games, they never get dull, and you can always enjoy playing over and over again. They're simple enough that anybody could play them, but at the same time there's a deeper level. To be truely GOOD at the games, you need to have a lot of skill, and a bit of luck.

Because, errm they place subliminal messages in the games and series?I don't know why one could speculate that it is us trying to hold on to our child hood for fear of growing up.

I think both the show and the game is addictive. I hate the show and for some reason I turn to it when it's on.

I don't think everyone is addicted to pokemon. I don't think pokemon that's popular in Iraq, Ethiopia, Ireland, or any of those small country that hardly being exposed to advertising/marketing effect LOLAlso apply for those that don't know japan, then they also don't know about pokemon LOL

It's an RPG and people who likes RPGs will generally get hooked. But when it's an RPG like Pokemon, people can become obsessed. The simple, yet to-die-for goal at the end can make a person extremely satisfied after all those wasted hours with your face in front of a little screen. It just seems that you're put on top of the world, especially when you started out with nothing. I mean, everyone wants to ditch home and go on a journey and find little animals with magical powers, right?

I just got hooked by watching the shows. Then when I was at Wal-Mart playing the Pokemon Yellow demo back in the day, I got hooked on it even more. I just wish this was 1 of those adult animes that Adult Swim got.

Roleplaying games are addictive. I would know, I'm currently hooked on Runescape.

I tend to think that it brings out the inner child of the person playing therefore if one has a strong inner child they will be more willing to be hooked to a game directed for the younger audience. Probably wrong though.

It's just a fun type of game. It appeals to the younger audience with cute-ish monsters you can raise and show-off in battle, competitions, and the like, and it appeals to older audiences with... I don't know, ^^. I just like it, and will probably never stop, ^_^.

It's addictive because kids these days are too lazy to go outside and play, and would rather concentrate on catching a series of animated sprites and battlling them until some text appears on the screen telling you that a few numbers went up.I really don't understand the whole fascination with these Pokemon games. ;[

I have to agree, but thats how alot of things can be to almost anyone. Everything has to be taken in moderation. I know that without video games my life could have been quite different. I know that i havent been effected too much (besides losing two years to a MMO (but i wont get into that.)) Games are games, i enjoy them, play them then move on to other things.RPGs are usually fun for a while, then they lose it, then they become fun again. Its just the cycle of the game.
