Well I have this theory. You see, it's either subliminal messages or hypnotism. The moment you pick up the game, the word Pokemon appears.Let's bisect it for a second, syllable by syllable:Po: One definition could be "a PUT-OUT in baseball"Ke: A sound a hawk makesMon: A monasterySo basically the whole secret behind it is that in your mind you are unconsciously chasing around (or "putting-out") hawks (pokemons) in a monastery (the world, BINGO!), which apparently is great fun and very addictive.

I've had odd run-ins with the game. I never even started playing on the Gameboy with the original Red and Blue versions.I started my Pokemon experience with the card game. I played with my younger brother in tournaments every weekend at the local bookstore (Borders) in town. We both mad insanely fun decks together and would pretty much dominate all the tournaments. I remember winning a lot together. After that I seriously only played the video games on very rare occasions.Lately though, with the Diamond/Pearl hype I am so very tempted to get into it again. I want to make an awesome team and play people through my DS on WiFi. It's an exciting aspect. Also, with the arrival of Pokemon Battle Revolution to the Wii console I am even more intrigued than ever by the game. It's kind of awkward for me. I'm 24 years old and married. I should be doing adult things, but I can't let go of my child hood fun. And generally (I'm not saying everyone) when you think of the Pokemon playerbase one would automatically picture a group of 12 year olds going nuts over catching a shiny Charizard.I want to be one of those 12 year olds. >_>

Its addictive due to the fact that one tends to be prior amongst the rest. Something that Ash has been aiming for, though hasn't seemed to be fulfilled.

I don't konw what makes it so adictive, but it is probably fair to describe it as the crack cocaine of Game Boy games >=( There's just something about it that draws people in, even if the games are repetitive.

It's because there's so many things to do and many ways to do it. That's why it's addictive. Plus, the storyline is great and pokemons are cute.

Everytime you turn it on just a little bit of crack dust just flows through the air from the cartridge. Oh wait, thats just mine....Guess I shouldn't have moved next to that Crystal Meth Lab... :nuke:

Pokemon is so amazingly addictive for the fact that we wish that we weren't alone, and that we had something extraordinary to control.
