any monster i don't get in a trade will have a name. Cause it's fun to give names based off the pokedex data.

I rarely give my Pokemon a nickname. I called my Gardevoir as Luna my Latias as Stella, and Groudon as Corona. Only them I gave a nickname.

I remember I nicknamed my Pokemon once. I can't exactly remember what they were, though, as it's been forever since I've even touched one of these games. But I remember I nicknamed my Articuno in Pokemon Blue after a variation of the Pokemon's name....

I might abbreviate their names... I'm trying to name it their Japanese names, so I can learn them. Also I might give them names like "sparky", "flames", "shadow" etc. Or I just name them after anime characters. If I'm not really gonna use them, I don't bother.

I only give nicknames for 2 pokemons, Chikorita and Charmander. Chikorita's nickname is Flora and Charmander's nickname is Charmi :) (Those are the nicknames I use for the Mystery Dungeon game)

God, I can't remember the last time I played Pokemon, Although I do, know that I did catch, Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres, (Should saved it to transfer to Crystal). anyways, there was only one play trough that I nicknamed them. Other than that, I never nicked them. I usually only caught one of each type. (God I need to get red and blue, also yellow back.) So I can get all the pokemon. Then in Crystal, I got 'the water dog' (forget his name) and I always killed with him, almost never needed anything else.Oh well.

I always nickname my Pokemon after my favorite anime characters. Usually, I base it on the Pokemon's personality, for instance, if my Duskull is the HAPPY type, then I'd name it Mikuru or Asahina (after I confirm that it's a female).

I like to nickname my pokemon when it is to my advantage... for example when one of my friends and I were batlling i changed all of my pokemons nicknames to that of their oppisite type/attribute; fire was water, leaf was electric, fighting was now the new physic, and so on. I also used legendary names such as articuno on my normal pokemon and he would freak out saying how did you get 3 articunos!? Later when my friend went to my base and battled me he would always get confused with which pokemon type i was sending out. Later when he caught on I changed their nicknames to their true type; so that now fire was fire leaf was leaf, water was wate etc. Later I decided to lay off for a while because it was confusing me too.Posted ImageClick here to feed me a Star Fruit!Get your own at Flyffables!

I sometimes nickname my pokemon the name of the unevolved form of the type or just a completely different pokemon name. That way when you battle your friends they don't know what's going on.

I tend to have themes. On Pokemon Pearl, my theme is "food and drink". Though sometimes I play a little loose with that. It bothers my OCD tenancies when I trade for pokemon and have Pokemon with non-food names, let me tell you... >_>
