I normally use a stylus. Not only does using your fingers dirty/damage the screen, it is easier to control events using the stylus. Unless accuracy is not needed and it is only for small things, I won't use my fingers.

i lost my stylus :[ sometimes i use my finger i know i shouldn't do it but i have to for a while, until i can get another stylus

I don't like using my fingers on the touch screen! I don't want to stain my screen so I would much rather use a styles

I don't because I find that my nails leave bigger scratch marks then the stylus

That's the same with me. I use my finger nails sometimes.I don't use my fingers or the screen fills up with finger prints. I rather use the stylus or when I'm lazy I use my fingernails.

I don't like having my grimy fingerprints all over the screen but I do end up having a dirty touchscreen because of it -_-;I just don't want to ruin it

no way. it spoils the caliberation of the screen and leaves oily fingerprints. (experience from lending my brother my ds for a day)

it depends on the game, if it need to use the touch screen a lot, then i wil use stylus, if i need to use it once every 10 mins, i would use my finger

Have you tried using your finger on Legend of Zelda: Phantom hourglass. I find it difficult to use my finger as most scenes needed precise ponting.

Gak! No offense, but DON'T DO IT EVER EVER EVER!!! ok... it's because your fingers are oily and gets the screen dirty, and your fingers are to big.... you might press something without meaning to.
