The Legend of Zelda had 9 dungeons, as did Ocarina of Time, and 8 pieces of the triforce, which also happened in Wind Waker, and there has nevr been a Zelda game, as far as I recall, that had 7 dungeons... except Adventure of Link, maybe. Link to the Past had 10, 11, 12... 12 dungeons, most of the portables have 8 plus the final dungeon, though Minish Cap only had 5 and I've yet to play the DS Zelda titles.Super Mario Brothers had 8 worlds of 4 areas each, as did Super Mario Bros. 3.But the "Why seven?" question is a good one: It tends to be a sacred or lucky number in mythology, right down to things like the seven deadly sins, seven days of creation, and the seven Chosen Children (Digidestined) in Digimon. I mean, sure, the kids in Digimon multiplied, a lot, by the end of the second season, but it's got a few good things going for it, historically, including that fact that seven days is roughly one fourth of a lunar cycle, or a week. While many cultures attach different values to different things, seven seems to be one of those things that roots itself into the collective unconscious mind of humanity, and is often associated with good luck and good things. That's the best answer I can really provide, at least.Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Mario Land 2: The Seven , Sonic's world has Seven Chaos Emeralds, Seven Dragonballs in the Dragonball seriesWhy always seven?why seven the only exception i see is the 8 badges or in pokemon
