I think they're very addictive. I love playing them, but I feel they often take too long. Too much of a grind! Everyone complains about games being too short, but I really wish I didn't have to grind so much in random battles and could just always move the story forward playing normally. I really don't like getting to a boss battle only to find out I was supposed to spend 3 hours running in circles to reach a certain level in order to beat it.

wow FF ruined my life lol, i played 4 (which turned out to be 6, due to numbers 1, 3 and 5 not being released in the states until later) when I was a kid on my SNES and have played every one since, as well as going back and getting the 1 and 2 double pack for playstation and playing that...

I think they are addictive myself. Especially games like Fire Emblem or...Pokemon. There's always a Character you never used, or thought was horrible before (Dorcas still is for me. 8 speed as a level 10 warrior, promoted at a level 19 fighter -_-) but then found out he was decent (haha not Dorcas for me :P).And to whoever said WoW gets boring after awhile: I think its boring to begin with. Not to mention really expensive IF you pay yourself which is what I did for...two weeks. Found it too repetitve, not to mention the abuse from other people. Thats what really shut me off (then again this is MY opinion).

I've been addicted to RPGs ever since I played my very first one: Dragon Warrior for the NES. They're the only types of games that I can play for more than 3-4 hours in one sitting and leave me wanting more. I guess if the right MMORPG came along, I might become addicted to it as well...but none so far have peaked my interest.

Surely they are addictive. I play NWN for 60 hours and haven't finished yet.

RPGs are almost better than MMORPGs because they are addicting and usually easy...

They're the best genre of games with the most replay value and the greatest storylines. I recently got into Rogue Galaxy for the PS2. It's an awesome Sony spinoff of all the FF's and Xenosagas, and a little bit borrowed from Pirates of the Caribbean, too.
