There are horrible ones though, like the one for the PSP, a Beautiful Life. That one is the worst Harvest Moon I ever played.
Rune Fcatory is a cool spin off thta many might like more, with more RPG elements thrown like monsters to fight.
The gamepley in all of these can be repetitive, so you need to know that going in...but overall Harvest Moon games are a different and neat RPG concept and are fun to play, especially on a portable system.

It is kind of fun at first, but then you realize you are running a simulated farm and it becomes a chore having to take care of it. The upgraded tools help a little bit, but after a while you stop. All the same, I don't regret my purchase and I will always love this game because it really is neat how you interact with other people and progress.

It's a matter of what sort of games your into to be honest. Some people can enjoy the Harvest Moon series for being what they are while others tend to stay away from it.
Of course, a game must be judged on its own merits, but it is also wise to consider the target audience of the game as well.

Yeah it is good and worth your time. It's pretty enjoying and addicting, actually. You can choose anyone you want to marry, harvest crops and many more things.

It depends on what type of person you are I guess. For me, it's an okay game because there are many collectibles and has time management skills. I prefer their sub-branch of Rune factory series, has more action and fighting in it along with the collectables and time management included.

Harvest Moon? Whether or not it's a good game depends on a lot of things. Which version of Harvest Moon do you have? Do you like simulation types of games? Do you enjoy growing things (and I'm not talking simply your crops)? Do you have a lot of spare time?
If you like action-y games a bit more, I'd actually recommend playing some version of Rune Factory. It's made by the same people, still has all the Harvest Moon appeal, AND you can go out and kill things when farm work becomes tiresome.

I used to play Mineral Town a lot, and I enjoyed it, but like most people say it depends on what you like in a game.
It's a farm simulator, and a lot of the game revolves around nurturing your crops, and eventually animals, so that you can gain enough money to maintain the place and upgrade your farm and tools to be more efficient. I find the gameplay soothing; others might find it monotonous.
You can get married to certain members of the townsfolk and go around befriending everyone else, and throughout the game you'll be able to see various events and attend festivals. Much of this is optional, but it helps you become attached to the little community in the game.
Many versions of the game have some sort of ultimate goal, or at least end after a few years in-game, which might be reccommended because otherwise the game starts to feel a bit pointless after a while.

It can be fun, and it was definitely fun for me when I played the SNES version at my teenage best friend's house- first time I saw a game incline romance into things, but for lasting value (and stopping yourself from being bored) I think Rune Factory is far better.

It is if you're into slower-paced things like that, but if you're interested into fast action and that, I don't reccomend to even pick one of the games up.

I like Harvest Moon a lot, there have been some duds to me, like the Futuristic themed one for the PSP which had too little too it.
The best one to me was Harvest Moon DS, but also the first PS1 one and Friends of Mineral Town on the GBA are pretty good ones too.
The spin off Rune Factory ones for the DS give you a bit more to do also...
Better on an actual portable system and is a game you can walk away from and come back to without missing anything or feeling like you need to start over again.
