Well... As the title and the topic description says: do you buy the games you play as roms on your emulator, if you like them a lot?Personally, I buy the games if I really like them.

I sometimes find a problem with some games. I love the game so much that I buy it. Many times if I play a rom game and like it I buy the other ones in the series.(unless I can get it as a rom)

If you really like a game or particular publisher, I think it's only right to purchase the game if it's a game you can still buy new. Sales figures matter to game publishers just as much as they do to Hollywood or the music industry: if everybody likes a game, but they download it rather than supporting the company, then that shows the company that either 1) the game wasn't of genuine interest to games, or 2) Gamers do not see their product as being worthy of the price tag set. Either way, the only result such activity and speculation can result in is games with a lower overhead to drop market prices to try and inspire gamers to spend again, consequently giving us lower quality games that truly aren't worth the money they ask for. When it comes to older games, things get a little trickier. The Wii Virtual Console and similar programs on the current-generation systems make support through the purchase of older games more likely, but in most cases getting older games for consoles results in buying them from second hand shops where all the proceeds go to the store without any kind of effect on the company that produces or manufactures the game. In this situation, I don't feel that buying games is necessarily required if you love them- the companies have in most cases already received as much support from the product as they can, and there's no financial downside to downloading, say, Theme Park for the SNES, or Adventure Island on the NES, as opposed to paying for them. It's still potentially worth doing if you want an authentic copy of the title, or simply for nostalgic purposes, but overall the ROM has as much value as the hard copy itself.

Before when I used to own a Game Boy Advance I would download roms to test out the game before buying them. But now, I just download them to gather digital dust inside of my hard drive. =/

I only buy the games if i really like the game. If you like it so much, you'd like to support the company, right?

Waste of money. But deleting them after you beat them is also a waste.
