the best band name by far out there is dimmu borgir as far as im concerned. it means "dark citadel" in icelandic. runner ups are radiohead - thats just a cool and solid name and system of a down - the whole system thing just makes it seem like theres just something bigger going on, a complex conspiracy or something as obscure as that. honorable mentions go to nine inch nails and nirvana

I'd have to sat that a name that really stick out among black metal bands is Satanic Warmaster. The name just bleeds blasphemy. For death metal, the band Morbid Angel is not only influential, but has a great name as well.
