Only the GBA version I have played is "Fire Red"That was because of nostalgia of the original GB version.I find the current Pokemon just like Tamagocchi I mean... its suppose to be MONSTERS and monsters are suppose to be Scary not cuddly!

Probably because one : Pokemon is something that has been there so long already, it has become one of those games you just have to play once in your lifeand second because it has got a great promotion, with all the merchandises the series, movies ect ect that all the kiddies see, and its a known fact that begging children can get a lot from their parents 
I always wanted to slip on a banana peel and fall on my face ....

its ok for a while but then you jsut lose that feeling and dont want to play it anymore

good question i have no clue why it is addictive it may be because there are choices of what your team will be like or it could be it is just insanely addictive

the reason that everyone liked Pokemon was that everyone wanted little companions to do there bidding, and the fact that there were 150 of them to choose from in the first set of games alone made it soo easy to get addicted. -javaj88ah<----Pokemon master in all Pokemon games (yes...i caught them all)

I agree, a lot of people like it. I'm surprised though it has lasted so long and has been kept popular. I guess it's popular because its a cute game for collecting creatures, training, and battling.

its just the best handheld game so far since it's for kids to play and can get you very excited if you evolve your pokemon or beated your rival

I always liked them. It's one of the most popular video games series ever, behind Zelda, Mario, and Megaman.

I think its because its pretty unique in my opinion, Plus almost everyone here probably grew up with pokemon.

Ahhh.....Pokemon even though I do not enjoy it's show I do enjoy it's game once in awhile but it is very addictive and my addiction for will not stop until I get help and NO I AM NOT A FANBOY if you call me a pokemon fan boy in RL I will rip out your heart and shove it in your throat

I chose yeah because pokemon is a classic turn by turn game. It is popular because theres a whole variety of pokemon to choose from instead of those games that only supplies like 50 different things to choose from. It also had many many series that game along with it from the GBC to the Nintendo DS. It is also a multi - platform game.

There's a lot to do in the games, raising and breeding pokes for battle, contests, completing the pokedex, trading, playing w/ friends, shiny hunting. It all adds up once you get into it.

dunno. personally i find the fire red one without the flashy stuff better. maybe it is the collecting all the pokemon thing. it's fun and there are team rocket to beat though after you beat almost everything the storyline drys up...

Pokemon was my childhood favourite tv show and game. It's fun to play pokemon again, it brings back such good memories x]

Eh... I was a Pokémon fan, but I grew out of it a few years ago. I started playing the games and watching the series because of they hype, besides that I think most people like it because it's addictive.

maybe because its graphics is very amazing, its like 3D because of its colors and effects. it's also no doubt because the adventure of every pokemon edition is very challenging, it helps you think better in a case of finding solutions on different problems. and the pokemons are so cute!!!! the legends and mysteries are also encouraging the player to never give up.

pokemon is the biggest Gba game/rom because it is the oldest, meaning so many people have played it meaning more poeple are going to like, meaning a bigger fan base. also the more games they bring out the bigger the fan base is gonna get because younger kids aren't going to want to play pokemon yellow, they want to play pokemon diamond and pearl because it is new. also they are very addicting to play.

Because it's the show/game everyone grew up with. Of course, the creators have realized this also and that's why the freakin' show has been going for 10 years and Ash is still like 13 and apparently he started out as a 10-year-old... Bah, greedy Pokémon creators.
