Do you have any of these Microsoft's great strategy games? [=Age of Empires I, Age of Empires II, Age of Mythology ang Age of Empires III]Have you played some of them? Why do you like 'em?I've got only AoE I, but I've tried all of them. [My friend has got AoE II]And why do I like them.. It's because all of that strategy. :]

Age of Empires support more units but lack micro-management support. However, I like it because it is actually a strategy game instead of a tactical game. I don't like 1 that much though because the graphics are bad and units move slowly.

I've been considering buying AoE III. Is it any good - worth the money? Been a bit bored recently and wouldn't mind playing something like AoE again.

Yes its very good. Excellent graphics, physics engine, and army size. Also you can slaughter innocent civilians. Considering that the price has gone down a lot, it should be worth it.

How many people here have played Age of Empires. The game is pretty simple and the only good thing about the cheats is to bring some of the future to the past and make it look funny. Id like to see what you all think of the game. On a scale 1-10 id give it a 6.4

I played the AoE: Age of Kings. Don't really enjoy that kind of slow micro gameplay, so ended up using cheats to blast through and experience the story.

I prefer faster, less micromanaging gameplay. But I appreciate the series for the control it gives you and the great story campaigns.

Played them all, they're damn great. I mean, the kind of strategy and so on, quite succesful and of the best multiplayer around. I liked AoM a lot as well, a bit different it was

Aoe 3 have superb graphics but after a while, you will get bored because it is about winning battles to earn points for improvements to your home city.

Its pretty good. there are plenty of variation and strategies waiting to be used in this one (example, the nationalities and different units in the castles).

:spiteful: Are you serious? AoE lacking mirco-management support? AoE is probably within the top 3 games for micro-intensivity. C&C and others were basically structured: Start Game, scout, set up a refinery, set up a barracks, set up a war factory, TANK (or tanklike unit) SPAM!And whoever made more tanks won. Just send them at the enemy and hope for the best.AoE is more or less: Start game, collect food, queue up vils, scout, harass, age up, rush? boom? turtle?, build a market and get some efficiency upgrades, build more vils, collect coin, age up, build skirms/lancers/f-prowlers (depending on civ and strat of course), hit and run enemy, pincer fork with ronin samurai...etc..There is just so much micro AND macro involved. You've got to control your vils carefully, move in your army at the right time, micro your explorer for treasures, guh, I could go on for so long. As for macro, there's no one or two units that'll own everything (except maybe prowlers, skirms+cuirs, or lancers+rods :shiftyninja: ), so there's so much thinking needed to be done in advance, WHILE your microing your vils away from a jan rush.(note, all the strategies I posted are from random civs I pulled off the top of my head. No one civ can do all of it, I know that. So anyone familiar with the game, don't bash me about it.

I've played AoE I, II and age of mythology. The only thing I don't like about AoE II is those annoying skirmishers, what the computer sends to attack you when it doesn't have any money left.
