I use a lot of walkthroughs, especially when i'm stuck. Do you think that this is wrong? Is it cheating just like using a cheat code?

No I use them when I'm stuck as well. Cheating to me is getting infinite amo or lives, but not walkthrough, sometimes you just need a little help.

i wouldn't concider walkthroughs cheating. Like you said you need help if you get stuck. yeah I use walkthroughs, normally after i already6 beat a game, then decide to go back through using a walkthrough just to find out what events/items/side quests i might of missed out on the first time through.

Nah, I don't think it is wrong. If you didn't use a walkthrough you might be stuck at that point of the game forever. That's why I use walkthroughs whenever I'm stuck for more than an hour. I consider it cheating but what are you going to do about it? You don't have a choice and you'll have to look it up.

I consider using a walkthrough the first time through a game as cheating. I use walkthroughs occasionally when im absolutely stuck, or like juggalo warrior when i've already beaten the game. They help alot, but when ur playing a game for the first time they can really spoil it.

I believe for certain games it is cheating but games that require reflexes and accuracy rather than problem solving are just helped slightly by walkthroughs.

it's not cheating, because you arent altering gameplay to your own needs. you are just getting a helping hand when you are stuck

It depends. If you're using the walkthrough so you don't have to work out any of the puzzles or mazes yourself, then yeah, it's cheating. If you're just using it to help figure out things like what magic spell works best against what enemy, then not really. Best just not to use them unless you're stuck, though. I had to have one in WindWaker 'cause I couldn't figure out how to get that stupid little tree person unstuck in the Earth temple thingy. I spent three hours tryin' to do it on my own, before I went and got a walkthrough.

I think its fair to use them. if it helps you out of a stuck point or you just want to play the game for its story then they're the best. without them, so games turn into work which is the exact opposite of what they're supposed to be.

I think using a walkthrough is a form of cheating, but it's not the same quality of cheating. Walkthroughs are for those of us who are too lazy to figure it out, whereas cheat codes are more for those who aspire for the leaderboards.

Generally. Cheats are to gain a upper hand over a game... getting extra lives... ammunition etc. But, i feel using a walk through is more of a guide, a guide to well, guide you through a game.If you continue to use the walkthrough the entire game, you don't exactly play it for yourself, you just play how the guide tells you. It's mainly comes down to the player of the game, they should only really use the walk through just to help them through a certain section of the game, but if the player uses the walkthrough through the entire game, they will only ruin it for themselves. You bought the game to play, discover the world of the game and enjoy it, if you use the walkthrough, you'll only play how the walkthrough wants you to...Lol, well, thats my opinion.

I don't think walkthroughs are cheating. What i find is when i get stuck in a game i get tremendously bored with it And i stop playing it. But, now i've started using walkthroughs if i get stuck ill continue on with the use of a walkthrough and lets me continue my game so actually i think they're great. And the people who put effort into them should really be appreciated.

I agree with you and you make a really good point. If you're going to use a walthrough throughout the entire game then you defeated the purpose of the game.

i think that if you need to use a walkthrough then use one even if you do think its cheating because cheating is better then not haveing fun with the game

Like alot of poster's before me I do not believe that walkthroughs are cheating. I mean if you are stuck and your friend is sitting next to you and drops that one vital hint that lets you get past an especially difficult puzzle, is that cheating? or is that just what friends do? Its very similar to walkthroughs so long as you only use them when you know you are stuck I don't see anything wrong with them.~Tritan
