Well, because it's considered one of the legends in video gaming, and video gaming will only progress in the future, what you should be asking is can an immortal video game die. That answer is no.

Zelda is the classic stereo-typical fantasy video game. As long as people are willing to play games like Zelda, it's not going to die.

I'm pretty sure that the Zelda games are going to be much like the Mario games; as long as Nintendo's in business, they'll continue to make them. Mario and Zelda are the two biggest classics, and to totally do away with either series would cause a HUGE uproar.

The Legend of Zelda series is a timeless classic. They'll just keep adding to it to make it better. Like the Nintendo Wii version. It's packed with pure awesomeness.

The Legend of Zelda is to epic, it will never die, just like the Mario series.

What many of you may not know is that Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an incomplete game. Shigeru Mayamoto planned to release the Nintendo 64 Disc Drive (N64DD) with a CD expansion pack for each and every N64 game every made, Zelda being no different. Zelda Ocarina of Time was supposed to have over 96 more hours of gameplay and even tie Zelda Ocarina of Time's plot to Zelda (nes), Zelda 2 (nes), and Zelda: Link to the Past. But without warning, one day the project was completed and never heard of again. Nintendo never said anything about it, questions from readers and gamers were ignored, and the Nintendo 64 soon after was scrapped. This remains a mystery today - why did they scrap it? Why was it not released?

I hope that they keep making them. But I would love some changes. The same thing over and over with different dungeons and items to fetch is getting monotonous. Best new thing so far was the leaf in Windwaker. That thing entertained me endlessly and should of been used more.

It wouldn't make any sense for nintendo to let the series die, since it has a devoted fanbase like most classic series' and is somewhat of a flagship icon (although nearly not as much so as say mario). As mentioned before, as long as there is nintendo, there will be the zelda series.

Only time Zelda dies is when Nintendo itself dies.
