If the name was Revolution, the system would seem like a hardcore system like the PS3 or 360.But that's not what it is, it's a system for everybody.The Nintendo "US" sounded bad and looked like it was for the US of A, so they decided to go Wii. :)I first thought the name Wii was stupid, but I believe it was the right way to go. Just like how Nintendo dropped the name "Gameboy" for the DS. That was made for the masses, the casual gamer. The DS was the experiment for the Wii, and it worked out very well for Nintendo since it appealed to both casual gamers and sort-of-hardcore gamers.edit: wrong tenseedit2: oops

I hated it when they announced that Wii was going to be the name. But now i really dont care. I mean Revolution sounds cool but Wii is more individual now. I mean if it had been called Revolution i doubt it would be getting as much attention by the media. If you ask a person about Wii they know what it is because of its odd name.

Wii. Revolution is straightforward and boring. Wii gives it the character that it deserves. A unique system needs a unique name.

I prefer Revolution.But, Wii is better.Simply because Revolution sounds more.... Well, I think a family is more likely to get a Wii than a Revolution.The name kind of sets it apart as something new, big, and yet to be adopted, kinda thing.

I like revolution because it sounds more like a video game system. I think they picked Wii because it would sound the same in every language. Whatever the name, it worked for them though.

revolution sounds more powerful but then i gess wii suites the console more cuz it is lacking a wii bit of power compared to the others: 360 + PS3

Revolution is an awesome name! It IS A REVOLUTION! motion controls? Only if u can tilting motion control! (PS3 i'm looking at u!) It's a revoultion in gaming! A step closer to virtual reality!

the name revoultion doesnt mean anything to the console. but wii sure does and it has a cool moto "wii would like to play". awesome. and the 2 Is represent people and controllers. also it looks cool when you write or type it look: wii. if they called the system revolution it would have a difficult moto like "revolution would like to play."

I agree, Nintendo staff were really smart, this got the Wii more attention and thats why i think Wii will outsell the other consoles.A lot of people would say Revolution, but I disagree. The name "Wii" is riciculous in many ways - an endless number of penis-jokes have been played on it - but it's also part of the brand. The fact that it was called "Wii" generated, oh, about a MILLION times more press-attention than, say, the fact that the Playstation 3 was actually called Playstation 3 did.It's part of their marketing and their strategy, and ridiculous as though "Wii" sounds, I'll tip my hat to Nintendo, because it worked

I prefer the sound of Wii. Even though the word "Wii" sounds just a little awkward, at least it's more original than PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5... PlayStation 2900, 2901, 2902, continuing on.

Who honestly cares about the name? It's really the last thing on the list of importance. If you think about it, at least it's more original than Xbox 360 or PS3.
