At first I was part of the crowd that didn't like the new name... "Revolution" sounded much cooler and emphasized the new gameplay methods... but I honestly believe that changing it to "Wii" was a great move by nintendo, especially business-wise. I think the mainstream populous would have been too intimidated by the "Revolution". It sounds too unfriendly and harsh, and conjures up images filled with conflict or strife. "Wii" however is a very friendly word that sounds much nicer and calls up images of familiarity and friendliness. I think that the Wii's name is one of the reasons it's doing so well, it appeals to the mass market as an approachable, friendly system, not a super-cool techie elite item, which is how I think it would have been perceived had it remained the "revolution".

same here, if they had kept the name revolution, I would have expected it to be black and shiny or something. the "technical sophisticated" type look is what the playstation 3 seems to focus on, and whenever I think of the Wii, it makes me think of all those pictures of happy family people playing it like on their adverts on tv.

I really was psyched about getting the "Revolution" when it was annoounced. Then they changed the name, which honestly, really turned me off from it.. I'm planning on getting a PS3 soon.

I liked Revolution but then when it changed to Wii it felt kinda akward but i got used to it so no biggy now about it.

Wii is a horribly retarded sounding name, and Revolution sounds... well... good. They really shoulda come up with a better political stunt to get marketing and advertisements than making the name utterly stupid.

It really depends...Want a hardcore gaming experience that will shake worlds? (Think Zelda: Twilight Princess)ORWant a fun family experience that will bring everybody together in a more party-ish way? (Think Mario Party 8, Cooking Mama: Cook Off)The top one is Revolution, if you can't find out. The bottom is Wii.I, personally, like either one, but if I had to pick, I would rather it stayed to be Revolution.
