GoW was pretty freaky, but like scary awesome. So maybe not the scariest, but like the sweetest game to play at night to feel scared but not like crap your pants, more like just wet them.

Why isn't this topic listed in "Popular Multi-Console Gaming Topics" ?System Shock 2 is the scariest game I've played. The enemies are freak-out scary, the Von Braun is a very eerily quiet, and supplies aren't plentiful. Nothing's more terrifying than being cornered by two Hybrids when your shotgun jams and you run out of Med Hypos. Bioshock ain't got s#!t on System Shock.I DARE YOU TO PLAY THIS GAME IN THE DARK WITH HEADPHONES. ALONE. I'll guarantee that you'll toss your mouse in the air.EDIT: I'm seeing a lot of people saying that Half-Life 2 is a scary game. I agree. Those poison headcrabs freak me right the f#%k out

OMG Doom when it first came out, playing late at night in a dark room and really freaking out when an alien jumped out at you - blurrrggghhhThere was a Doom clone on the mD - I can't remember it's name - and that was pretty awful too as it had thease alien spiders running round on the ceilings

I'm a man which is why to me te scariest game ever is mario kart, when people hit you it makes me piss my self. In reality I say any of the good silent hills can scary me pretty well, and half life 2 had a bunch of moments that were scary, with guys popping u next to me when I didn't know it.

Imagine series on the DS. *shudder*Wait, did someone say Gears of War was scary? Whaaaaaat...? Seriously? No way, it was freakin' epic. Especially when you go up to a Locust with a lancer, revving the chainsaw. Cuts clean, so much blood, SO EPIC. More fun playing with others on Horde, got to wave 15. I know, not that impressive, but oh well.Scary games besides the Imagine series? uhh, I've played Fatal Frame on a friend's ps2. Wasn't THAT scary, but it sure was the scariest game I ever played. I dunno, supressed memories of ps1 games might exist.

Oh, 2 immediately jump to mind! They were both PC games, mind you. The first one was "The 7th Guest". Probably just because I tried playing it at like, 5 years old, but holy s***. That scared the HELL out of me. Skeleton hands STILL freak me out. The other one was Return To Zork. In retrospect, I recently went and looked it up online to see how the game ended (I was too scared to finish it) and it wasn't that bad....EXCEPT THE DEATH SCENES. Where you're present at your own wake. WTF?! And the grues, omg. Those things tormented my dreams for YEARS. (I still won't sleep in total darkness because of that damn game....)

There was a game for the SNES, i believe, called clocktower? I had nightmares for like a week after only 20 minutes of it! And I'm never going to replay it..

I thought Condemned 1 & 2 alone with Obscure was scary, that was when i havent played Dead Space yet, man i swear that Dead Space is the MOST terrifying game out there. I got the s**** scared out of me at least twice for each chapter.If you havent played Dead Space yet you should go and pick it up sometime, it is probably the BEST survival horror game out there, its storyline is amazing.

I am a big fan of horror games. But in terms of really scary games I go for the psychologically scary. Silent hill has always been a favorite of mine, but as for scariest and most disturbing I would say 'Rule of Rose' for the PS2 would be the most offsetting game I have ever played. It has incredible atmosphere, layered metaphors, gripping story, and keeps you at the edge of your seat the whole time. I strongly recommended it to anyone who finds it in a store. It is quite rare as I understand

I would say that Bioshock is probably one of the scariest games I've played, but I actually finished it, loved it and wanted to play it over. Games like Doom 3 or Dead Space I can't play. Played Doom 3 for about 5mins after everything went to hell before i was like "screw this!" 
i just don't have that high a threshold for horror games. Couldn't even play through Condemned 2.PS. Excited as hell for Bioshock 2!!

Hands down Resident Evil 1 and 2. I first played them when I was 12. When I first played RE:2 I stopped playing it because it was too scary and hard.
