While I can't recall the SCARIEST game I've played, I can think of a few that sent chills down my back. The Fatal Frame series was definitely one of them. Play that in the dark with the volume up. Resident Evil 2 did a number on me, too, but I was only 11 at the time.

Fatal Frame 3 nearly got me a heart attack, taking pictures of ghost, surprising you on first-person. It's honestly a shock every time

Definitely "The suffering" i nearly wet my pants several times in one day.The game is a cross between SAW(you know the movie) and a TPS (thrird person shooter) and trying to get out alive. You are sent to jail because you killed somone then, all suddenly all hell is unleashedin a matter of seconds. Crazy blood drenched monsters come out with sharp boneswhich they use as swords, and then they start killing all the jail guards and inmates, and now you are trying to get out, whenever you see somone in need of helpyou can either help them or kill them (you decide their fate) and their are3 alternate endings to this game: good, bad, normal. All this depends on what you do in the game.

Is the cat in the box alive or dead?

If you open the box, you will know the answer.

You will know the truth.

However, until you open the box, you can claim that the cat is alive, and you can also claim it is dead.

Some of the Resident Evil games had their moments, but I feel like the Silent Hill series asa whole is scary as hell.

Siren. The tension of not getting caught by zombies who are smarter than the average undead is nerve-wracking.

My scariest game ever so far is still Fatal frame, also due to the fact that your enemies can go through walls to attack you and you only have a camera

WOW!!All u guys are lame. Resident Evil was never even scary. And Half Life wasnt scary either. SILENT HILL is scary! I still have the original cause its so awesome and scary. Also, FEAR was also pretty scary too hehe. but the second FEAR was meh... Doom 3 was only scary cause it was dark all the time (stupid idiot cant hold a gun and a flashlight @ the same time)... I've never played clocktower, but I would like to.Anyways, Silent Hill is definitely the scariest game series ever, not only because of gameplay, but also story and most of all, the MUSIC! seriously, the game would be nothing without that EPIC soundtracks for all the games. it's like, If u took away the music from JAWS. so much emotion in the SH music too.

Definitely the first Silent Hill, it was the first horror game I ever played. Alone and in the dark it had me jumping when the house made noises at night LOL

Fatal Frame, definitely. Like this person mentioned - they disappear, and go through walls, or the ceiling, or the floor - and the only thing you have to defend yourself with is a camera. Not terribly reassuring. *shudders*
