The best franchises are usually along the lines of the longest running series', like Zelda, Mario and Dragon Warrior/Quest, even Final Fantasy. To say what is the best is up to personal opinion as many people won't like the older generation games if they introduced to the newer generation consoles. Games like Halo will be their favourite franchise. For me, Dragon Warrior/Quest series is definitely the one.

sonic! it was the only video game I know which had 4 TV shows (3 of which were huge successes) it had lots of games and most of them are awesome, and although the plot has suffered over evolution it never gets bad somehow! Now I can't prove sonic has lotsa merchandise, but I have evidence... A sonic shampoo bottle! it was a bottle, but it also had this game, where you push the buttons and little air bubbles would make these rings float up onto a little pole... it was great bath fun! There was also a picture of sonic and tails running from eggman in a special zone - esque level to keep you motivated! So, if sOnic was on something that obscure, there must've been lots of sonic merchandise!

Legend of Zelda is my favourite franchise. So many fond memories. By no means a perfect series, though. I'm still annoyed with how tedious Twilight Princess was!Billy

zelda has lots of potential, with the two timelines and multiple races. But final fantasy is just so cool. Anyway, in the end id have to say final fantasy, even though my favorite game is ocarina, final fantasy has delivered game after game of nonstop rpg action. I dont care if madden has solden more games. Ow, and kingdom hearts is just starting, but 4-5 more games are in development. oh, and i have to agree with micheal 2022, mario did save videogames B)

Metroid, Zelda, and Mario. Although, Mario destroys most other franchises because he's so well known. There are games of Mario doing most anything.

Zelda all the way~ Ever since I was first introduced to it, I could not help but love it. Majora's mask especially, what with it being a game made up almost entirely of side quests which actually contribute to the ending. Not to mention the epic-ness of Ocarina of Time (Dark Link!).I'm not sure what would come in second, seeing as I dislike Final Fantasy (save for X, VII, and Crystal Chronicles) and Kingdom Hearts.. I suppose Mario.

well people can lie on wiki.but in my honest opinion... metal gear solid. ive loved ever single game from that series, always will. the onlne was kinda screwy and VERY easy to cheat on, but was still fun
