I only get the roms of old games that I have previously owned but then lost for whatever reason, games like EarthBound etc... Since I mostly play games on my computer I don't need to download roms for new games that seem interesting, I just pirate them outright or get a demo, then I buy it if I like it or delete it if I don't.

For me, that is the case sometimes. But usually i don't even buy them. Games that want badly that i don't wanna go to the store for i just get a ROM for it =)

I do that. I wanted to get Silent Scope, but I wasn't sure. I tested it with a ROM, hated it, and didn't buy it. Saved me money.

I only buy the ones I'll keep for a while, not necessarily just the good ones coz sometimes i dont even buy those lol. Like Pokemon/FF III i'll buy even without testing.

i get roms to play old games that i love, like all the mario games, all kinds of rpgs, and games that i've never heard of before. i'm not gonna go and buy a snes, sega, ps, gba, ds, etc., AND all the games, otherwise i'd have racked up a bill of like a thousand dollars just on all my games!

For me, ROMS are a way of testing new games to see if i like them, or playing old ones which arent made anymore.

Roms are a good way to test games, but if you like a rom and get far on it, what's the point of restarting on the games you just bought. I've heard rumors about a rom burner for pc that you can use to burn the game and save file onto an empty cartridge.

I generally dont pirate new games, but carts are a pain and emulation is the only way to play them for me.

makes sense

No, it doesnt. Most games that are roms are easily affordable and are actually MORE fun to play on the consoles that they were meant for. And roms come out waaay after games, so that makes no sense =\
