I grew up watching American style stuffs, so I'd obviously be more drawn to it, but most of the detail in them can be a bit gross for my tastes (Ren & Stimpy and such)I love the flow of animation in a lot of Japanese animations, so I guess I'll side with that...

I think this pretty much says alot,I like amreican cartoon, there more, well cartoons, with i enjoy.... alotand japaneses have diffrens sence of humorbut i still like anime.... alotAmerican Cartoons: While (in my opinion) they are some of the funniest cartoons ever, and can provide more entertainment, they lack the serious touch.Japanese Cartoons: Have the awesome pin-point realistic drawing that attract fans of serious cartoons. I've always been partial to Anime and Manga, but man, nothing beats Family Guy

It depends entirely on the person.American cartoons are usually marketed towards a family audience (excluding Boondocks, Family Guy, some others).Whereas the Anime market is targeted towards different age groups.It's more diverse.Shoto is more for young boys in the 8 - 14 age range, Shojo is targeted towards young girls, etc, etc.I generally tend to dislike Anime.It just usually doesn't have the sense of humor I appreciate.Anime is make or break or break for me.But western cartoons are also make or break.

Ill say American (cause god knows everyone is gonna say JAPANESE CARTOONS ARE SUPERIOR TO EVERYTHING) Mainly, While Japanese cartoons tend to follow the generic look (even the artsier ones like those gibli films) They have the same body structure, the same eyes, and the same ideal with a story (its usually a plot+time-line effect where you need to start with episode one to understand everything, and just watching episode 16 of like.. idk fullmetal alchemist.. you dont know whats going on or how people got there) While thats good with some things.. its just so genericAmerican cartoons have a better mix of Styles Like Looney toons, Johnny Test, Johnny QUEST... just the first three I thought off.. all of them have different styles and set up. idk Im totaly losing my strain of thought for a decent argument.. Imma just settle with I like American cartoons more when it comes to quality.

this is a tough choice for me cuz i love cartoons in general. i love japanese cartoons (anime) for the awesome plots and storylines. but i love american cartoons for the sheer amount of fun and relaxation they provide. i guess i'd go with the american cartoons cuz you don't havta know what's going on in order to enjoy em: jus start watching from whatever season and let the fun begin

I tend to think Japanese cartoons (anime, in my opinion) are interesting in terms of plot. Don't really like superheroes as a whole. <.< I don't understand the idea of having a superhero particularly well... meh.

I agree with a lot of people that posted saying they like both. I love animes for the story and characters. I can stay up for days nonstop trying to finish a whole series because i'm hooked on the plot. But I also love American cartoons cuz I don't really have to pay much attention to anything going on in them. I can just sit there and relax while watching. If you ask my daughter though, she'll definitely say Spongebob Squarepants lol....

well, it's really kind of hard to say.Anime is really aimed at lots of different demographics, while cartoons are mainly aimed at kids, right (except for family humor)? Comics, however... (cartoon can sort of refer to them too, right?) They're aimed at as many different demographics as anime.

ME RUV BIG AMERIKAN CAWTUNES!I used to like mainly japanese cartoons but now that I'm older I find them to be too flashy and annoying but with american cartoons like the simpsons and south park you can just sit and watch and laugh at the humor

screw the eyeshield 21 anime they left out the best parts :(uhh thats really hard to say american cartoons are fun and provide lots of laughs on the other hand anime can do the same but sometimes its just too serious to be a cartoon. Hmmm gotta give it to american cartoons. they brought me futurama and the original mickey mouse cartoons there'll will always be a special place in my heart for you ronin warriors!!! I think american are more about humor and kinda less meaning/ emotions. Japanese are requires people with more imagination to enjoy and are more mature. To be honest i like both, love both humor and action/emotions. its not like any of them are bad but if i had to choose i would choose Japanese.

Japanese cartoons are better than our "black and white ones" they teach morals in their cartoons, they teach lessons. they show that there is no black and white in society; but there are many different and diverse shades of Grey. They show that an emotion can be shown at a certain time. Anime is not just about who is good and bad or good vs evil, but the hardships, struggles and joys about everyday life. They actually teach something, while our cartoons are primarily for entertainment.

I agree that anime is better. Take Naruto for example, one of the main themes in that anime is hate. Hate can consume someone and turn them into someone that nobody likes and it becomes an ugly mess as seen through Sasuke. On the other hand, American cartoons are generally dumb because there is no real point to them (e.g. Tom and Jerry is just a cat chasing a mouse around all the time...).

I like anime more cause it's so epic and funny like black cat,Naruto,one piece and death note but the american ain't bad, like (The Simpsons) & (Family Guy) those are good but not as good as the anime,and the american cartoons don't have a lot of Action as the anime so what i just meant that..............ANIME ROCKS,CARTOONS SUCKS.

There are some good American cartoons out there, but I really do prefer anime. The illustrations are so much better than anything I've seen so far. Avatar: The Last Airbender has some pretty good art for something American. You just can't beat Japanese.

I'm actually a big fan of American cartoons. From the early Disney cartoons in the 20's up until Warner Bros' Animaniacs in the late 90's, American cartoons were just teeming with style and originality. These cartoons were filled with wit and humor, but still managed to be somewhat educational so parents wouldn't complain. Modern American cartoons just don't have the same charm anymore (even shows like the Simpsons started feeling stale around 2004), so I'd say the edge goes to Japanese cartoons for now.
