Out of the three (not including Young Link) featured in SSBM (I don't know that many others), I would say Marth. Link isn't purely a swordsman, and Marth's Falchion is superior to Roy's Sword of Seals.If we're talking from the SSBM stand point, Marth is definitely the top swordsman. Both Marth and Roy's attack range exceed Link, but unlike Roy, Marth's sweetspot on his sword is at the tip, meaning it is in his best interest to keep some space between him and his opponent. Roy, on the other hand, will want to stay close to his opponent because his sword's sweetspot is at the center of the blade, reducing the range benefit of having a sword. Also, when Marth hits with his sweetspot, it deals more damage than when Roy hits with his sweetspot. Marth is also much faster than Roy or Link, being able to do more than one attack in one short hop (ex. SHDF). Marth also falls slower than Roy and Link, making him harder to combo than Roy and Link. While Link wins out in terms of recovery, Roy is the loser because he cannot cover very much vertical distance with his up-B, coupled with his fast fall speed.It's reasons like this that put Marth in high-tier compared to Roy and Link who are in the low to bottom tiers.

just one question, is this relating ONLY too melee? cause you only put up Roy, Link and Marth why not someone like Eliwood or [insert nintendo swordsman's name here]? too bad it wasn't greatest Namco swordsman, then i would have said Yoshimitsu or Kratos.

Of course I love Kratos from Tales of Symphonia. And just because he onyl uses 1 sword, doesnt mean he is sucky, it just means hes more skilled

I would have to say Ashnard from FE: path of radience, his armor cant be hurt without the alondite of the ragnell, and he rides a wyvern, and his sword kicks donkey. not even link would have a chance against him.

Marth is just too weak a character to really be that effective, but Link attacks can deal a lot of damage and if you know who too overcome his slowness then he can beat anyone.

Ike from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Once he gets his unique skill, he is unstoppable.Seriously? A two-hit combo, one hit heals you, and the other cuts enemy defense in half? In FE, that is ridiculous.

While Link, Marth and Roy seem to be dominating this thread, I'm gonna have to go with Zero, from the Megaman Zero series. He could probaly face all three at once, and all three of them would get thier butts kicked upside down. Zero would destroy them, and look incredibly pretty while doing it.

that's an easy one, link. he's not limited to his sword, he has other cool weapons and stuff.
